00:00We must learn to trust, rebuild, and follow the blade.
00:10Welcome to Mojo Plays.
00:11We were invited to an Assassin's Creed Shadows preview event, so today we're covering the
00:16ten things about it we're looking forward to most.
00:19We are the shadows that serve the light.
00:25Before we continue, be sure to subscribe to our channel and ring the bell to get notified
00:29about our latest videos.
00:46This was first introduced in Syndicate back in 2015.
00:49It was fun, but had a handful of flaws.
00:52For example, a lot of missions were limited to one character.
00:56Also, while Eevee was meant for stealth and Jacob combat, it wasn't completely forced.
01:01Eevee could pack a punch, and Jacob could hide with ease.
01:05In Shadows, missions aren't locked to either, and you can even swap characters mid-mission.
01:10The difference between protagonist playstyles is much more polarizing, too.
01:14Naoe is susceptible to being one-shotted, but her nimble moveset makes stealth a breeze.
01:20Yasuke, on the other hand, is a tank at fighting, but his size and slowness make sneaking
01:26nigh on impossible.
01:33Naoe
01:34You must be the one Lady Nene speaks of.
01:36You could say that, yes.
01:38For stealth enjoyer, Eevee was the best assassin at stealth in the series.
01:43Now, Naoe is here to claim that title.
01:46She's the most stealth-oriented assassin of all time.
01:49Fighting as Naoe is extremely punishing, but she has a plethora of shinobi tools up her
01:54sleeve.
01:55She's arguably the best animated assassin in the series.
01:59Parkour with her feels amazing.
02:02She moves with remarkable grace, and her constant flips and spins give her so much character.
02:07Combined with the stealth overhaul, we think Naoe will become an instantly adored shinobi.
02:12I'll lead.
02:13Wait for me at the Honmaru.
02:16Yasuke
02:17I am here on his behalf.
02:19He picked an amateur like you.
02:21Yasuke is the first assassin based on a real person, and we're beyond excited to see how
02:26his story plays out.
02:28He's the complete opposite of Naoe.
02:30Fighting is a walk in the park for Yasuke, with his mighty stature and strong skills.
02:35Yasuke doesn't even get access to regular assassinations.
02:39Instead, he can perform a brutal assassination, which causes immediate detection and intimidation.
02:46Unfortunately, he's a slow climber, and easily the tankiest assassin we've seen.
02:52So if you play the series for a power fantasy of chain-killing 20 guards in a row, then
02:56Yasuke might become your favorite.
02:59I'll keep watch here, and let you do what you need to do.
03:02Good.
03:03Find me at the meeting area after I have finished.
03:06Dynamics, Seasons, and Weather
03:08Assassin's Creed III was the first game to introduce seasons.
03:12Many were disappointed when they were tied to story progression, and you needed animus
03:16hacks to change them.
03:18It also boiled down to just snow, or no snow.
03:22Well Shadows has doubled down and introduced four dynamic seasons, no longer tied to story
03:27progression at all.
03:29They'll each be split into two, such as early autumn and late autumn.
03:33These seasons directly affect the weather, environment, and NPC behavior.
03:38For instance, during summer, guards will frequently check overgrown bushes.
03:42In winter, these bushes won't be viable hiding spots, but guards will stay close to heat
03:48sources.
03:49So, certain missions will be easier depending on the time of year, an incredibly fascinating
03:53mechanic.
03:54Assassin's Summons
03:55This battle you speak of, what do you make of it?
04:01More families crushed, and innocents killed.
04:05It's no different from the battles that have come before or after.
04:08Brotherhood is considered the best in the series by many.
04:12One superb mechanic was the assassin recruits.
04:15While exploring, you could summon your recruits to your aid.
04:18Despite its popularity, it only featured in limited sequels.
04:22Now it's returning once again in Shadows.
04:25We don't know much about it, but the recruits can possess unique abilities.
04:29We'll also be tied to seasons somehow.
04:32We're hoping it's more fleshed out than ever, but with limited information, we have to wait
04:36and see.
04:37If done well, it will easily cause waves of nostalgia with Ezio enjoyers.
04:48Exploring Japan
04:49Fans have been crying out for a title set in Japan for years.
05:00Now, this dream has finally come true.
05:03It'll take us across nine provinces set around the modern day Kasai region.
05:07The most famous city we'll get to see is Kyoto, Japan's historical capital.
05:12They've also added a host of vibrant wildlife, greatly enriching exploration and immersion.
05:18There will be new activities populating the world like painting wildlife.
05:22This is a refreshing change since map completion has been quite similar in the newer games.
05:27Combined with the season mechanics, it's going to be pretty difficult to get bored of exploring.
05:37Grappling Hook
05:38This feature was first introduced in Syndicate, where it was criticized for being too powerful.
05:43In a game about parkour, having a hook that lets you climb any building immediately feels
05:48a bit too strong.
05:50Now it's back in Shadows, but this time it's a lot more balanced and interesting.
05:55The new Grappling Hook has proper weight and momentum, letting you swing between trees
05:59or climb up tall structures with ease.
06:02This makes it less strong than in Syndicate, but significantly more fun.
06:06Keep in mind that it's all exclusive to Noe, furthering the gap in playstyles between the two.
06:12Stealth Overhaul
06:18The necessity of stealth has frequently changed, with it being almost essential in Unity and
06:24then being completely optional in Valhalla.
06:26It's optional once again, but you'll be missing out big time.
06:30Eagle Vision is now exclusive to Noe, and she has a hefty bag of tricks to aid her in
06:35evading detection.
06:36Extinguishing Light is new, allowing Noe to hide in the shadows, making her almost invisible.
06:42She can also go prone, letting her crawl in tight spaces and entering areas inaccessible
06:48to Yasuke.
06:50This is the most fleshed out stealth has ever been, and we're beyond excited about it.
06:59RPG Elements
07:01The RPG side isn't going to be as heavy as in the Mythology Trilogy, but it's still a
07:06core aspect.
07:07It'll include a variety of weapons like katanas, spears, shurikens, kunai, and even a hefty
07:13rifle for Yasuke.
07:15There will be a separate skill tree for every weapon, letting you specialize as you desire.
07:20The combat skills introduced in Origins are back once more, except this time with beautiful
07:25animations.
07:26There will thankfully be transmogrification, and you'll be able to craft a personal katana.
07:31The two characters share XP and loot, so don't worry about having to complete everything
07:36twice.
07:37Co-Op Mode
07:47It's not often we get interesting multiplayer since it's a primarily single player series.
07:52Unity was the first with co-op, and now Shadows will bring it back.
07:56Hopefully there will be more freedom than in Unity where it was limited to specific
08:00missions.
08:01You couldn't explore the open world with a friend.
08:03There are a few details available, but we're hoping you can play the whole game in co-op.
08:08Combined with two assassins, this will be way more fun than Unity's co-op where everybody
08:13was Arno.
08:14Fingers crossed it lets us play with both assassins together, which could be an undefeatable
08:18combination.
08:26What are you looking forward to most in Assassin's Creed Shadows?
