The average bargain hunter spends two hours and 18 minutes a week looking for the best deals.
A poll of 2,000 adults found shopping in supermarkets (two hours 16 minutes), searching for holidays (two hours 14 minutes) and when buying new clothes (two hours 13 minutes) are the things people dedicate the most time to finding good deals.
While more than 90 minutes is spent trawling through charity shops - but a quarter do not often shop around for a great deal on their car insurance.
It also emerged 31 per cent use the feeling of being a savvy saver to help motivate them to cut back on their spending.
The research was commissioned by Compare the Market, which is entering a new era with their service, AutoSergei [https://www.comparethemarket.com/autosergei/], delivering personalised car insurance deals that could save people time and money ahead of their renewal.
