00:00When it comes to farming, soil fertility or how fertile the soil is is very important.
00:17That's why a robot is being developed to detect if the soil is fertile or not, and a process to help it.
00:25For now, let's make a prototype.
00:28Come on, let's change the game.
00:34It's considered an agricultural country.
00:39But 82% of the farmland in the Philippines has low to moderate soil fertility.
00:47Aside from the cost, it's a double job for the farmers.
00:51And even if they put fertilizer, it's still not enough for the crop to grow.
00:58What if it can detect where the soil is fertile and how to restore its fertility?
01:08Pasok Toniko, a 3D-printed robot that can measure the potential hydrogen or pH soil content and NPK on the soil,
01:17or your nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium.
01:21The one who developed it is a grade 11 student from Batangas State University.
01:25We settled for one specific natural disaster, which is soil infertility.
01:30Toniko is a restorative plan, which is one of our objectives, to restore soil health.
01:38What we measure when it comes to soil infertility is NPK values and pH values.
01:46It uses sensors that, through the process of electrolysis, get the results from the soil.
01:51Toniko is a remote-controlled prototype.
01:57It has a Lego, which it uses to walk.
02:01And it uses an Arduino-based main software.
02:05The whole framework is 3D-printed.
02:08The prototype's pH and NPK sensors are important.
02:12They are placed on the soil.
02:14We have conducted pre-tests.
02:17And from our pre-tests, we have found that how the current sensors are calibrated,
02:22they align with the values that you can get from the normal soil.
02:26The data that these sensors detect will be inserted into the RS module.
02:31That is what the main software will interpret.
02:34And if the ideal ratio of the soil is not followed,
02:37the three LEDs inside will light up.
02:40Instead of inorganic and synthetic fertilizers,
02:44Toniko uses compost, like mulch, which is made up of organic materials.
02:49If the ideal ratio is not met, the mulch will deploy the prototype.
02:53Mulch is used to improve the fertility of the soil or to correct the imbalance in the soil.
03:04My fellow citizens,
03:05an invention to provide a solution to soil infertility.
