India is celebrating its 76th Republic Day, marking the completion of 75 years of the Indian constitution’s enactment. The January 26 celebrations are marked with an iconic ceremonial parade at New Delhi’s Kartavya path. The parade, comprising tableaux and marching contingents, showcases India’s rich heritage and military prowess. The parade began with President Droupadi Murmu taking the salute. It had 31 tableaux from states, union territories and government departments. 5,000 artists performed over 45 dance forms during the parade. Eighteen marching contingents and 15 bands take part in the parade. A spectacular air show enthralled the spectators. PM Modi visited the National War Memorial to mark the day and called for strengthening efforts to preserve the ideals of the Constitution. Indonesian President Subianto attended the celebrations as the chief guest.
