Leeds Rhinos coach Brad Arthur reflects on the 22-4 win over Wigan Warriors in Ash Handley's testimonial game and reveals the latest on two injury scares.
Transcript
00:00Brad, sorry to start on a negative after a game, but how's Micah?
00:04I'm not a doctor, but he'll have to have his scans tomorrow. We've just got to hope for the best.
00:11Do you know him? Sorry.
00:13Yeah, so they've got to rule out all the possibilities around ACLs, MCLs, whatever, so he's got to have a scan.
00:21It was a knee, wasn't it?
00:23Yeah, it was a knee, yeah, so we'll have a scan tomorrow and just hope for the best.
00:28And Cooper Jenkins, obviously.
00:30Yeah, he got a head knock, so he's right now in the sheds.
00:34Probably he'd want to go back out, but there's no point. The game didn't mean anything.
00:39Other than that, an encouraging afternoon overall?
00:43Yeah, look, I'm just pleased for Ash.
00:46At the end of the day, it's nice for the club, it's nice for Ash, but the game doesn't mean anything, really.
00:55It's just for both teams to get some run in the legs and get some work physically, get their bodies bashed around a little bit,
01:03and hardened, and we did that, and the conditions sort of played into that sort of game, where it was just a bit of a bash and barge.
01:12Did you see some encouraging signs, having said that, from your side?
01:17Yeah, I liked our reactional response, our positive response to a couple of ill-disciplined moments,
01:24a couple of penalties out of red zone, and then on that there was another penalty,
01:29and then we defended our line for four or five sets, so they had to revert to a kick, and it was a good try.
01:35So that pleased me, that our reaction and response was good to some negative things that we'd done.
01:42Instead of just dropping our heads, we just got on with it.
01:45Would that be, performance-wise, a disappointment that there were two sets of back-to-back penalties and in the second quarter a few dropped balls?
01:53Yeah, but like I said, our response was really good.
01:57So in hindsight now, I'm actually happy that those things happened, to see how we did respond,
02:03instead of waiting until we get into a game and our response is poor.
02:07So we can build on the back of that, but yeah, there was just a little bit of ill-discipline at times.
02:13But when you're playing right on the line, and you're pushing the boundaries, that's what happens.
