Leeds Rhinos coach Rohan Smith reflects on his side's 41-22 Boxing Day win over Wakefield.
Transcript
00:00 Rowan, did you get what you wanted out of that?
00:07 I think so, it was a good battle and obviously we had to earn our way back into the game
00:12 after probably a bizarre most of the first half.
00:18 There was a lot of young kids, got a good experience there against largely an experienced
00:25 Wakefield team for a good portion of the game anyway.
00:31 Wasn't without blemish that's for sure but I was happy with the way people stuck together
00:35 and kept playing and thought we looked fit and sharp in the main.
00:40 What was the change in the second half, was it a mindset thing?
00:45 We struck a few sets together and played pretty direct there and we got a top end dummy half
00:54 there that exposed some opportunities there on the back of some quality go forwards.
01:01 We had a decent little patch there.
01:02 The first half just lacked any rhythm at all, there was penalties, turnovers for play to
01:08 balls, it had no end to end footy so as soon as there was a little bit of that I thought
01:14 we looked alright.
01:16 What did you make of the new players on the show?
01:20 A mixed bag, a mixed bag.
01:23 Lachie over tried and he was that desperate to show what he's got and impress and show
01:29 everyone what he's about.
01:30 He tried a bit too hard but I liked how he went out after half time and played that little
01:36 patch, he did well to get back on the tracks, do well.
01:40 Gudemund was excellent I thought, he played nearly the whole game.
01:46 We lost a few with injuries so he had to play more than expected but he showed his traits.
01:52 Froley played well, good solid game, controlled the game when we took care of possession,
01:58 he was in good control.
02:00 I thought Akers was a constant threat from dummy half and showed some of what he can
02:07 do, he's just getting started but I think he's a great addition to our group and a very
02:13 underrated player in the country, I think he's an excellent player.
