00:00Thank you Kylie and thank you for the opportunity to share some remarks on this Australia Day.
00:06On this day, 237 years ago, a group of British settlers arrived at Sydney Cove
00:12and began a new chapter in the history right here in this great summer land at the edge of the world.
00:19That endeavour was not a short success, but through hard work, a commitment to freedom
00:26and a belief that a better future lay ahead.
00:29Our ancestors set course and built the freest and most prosperous nation the world has ever seen.
00:37All those years ago, those ships did not arrive as someone some would have you believe, as invaders.
00:45They did not come to destroy or to pillage.
00:48In what could be compared to Elon Musk's SpaceX's efforts in calling me on Mars,
00:53many boats arrived on the edge of the known world to embark on that new experiment.
00:59A new experiment and a new society.
01:02From that moment, our national story stood at a crossroads.
