00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. made an executive clemency

00:04to former Iloilo Mayor Jed Mabilog.

00:07That's what Clazel Pardilla said.

00:11I hope that the hardships we've been through,

00:16which are

00:19crushing,

00:21persecution,

00:23trauma,

00:25and

00:26nothing,

00:28will not be experienced by others.

00:41And

00:42the truth will prevail.

00:45And not the politics

00:49or personal interest of some.

00:53That's what the former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Mabilog said.

00:57After the accusation of former President Rodrigo Duterte,

01:00who was a drug protector,

01:02and was included in the 2016 Narco List,

01:05he ended his life.

01:07That's why he was forced to leave the country in August 2017.

01:11He became a target of harassment.

01:13The administrative case that was filed against him can be explained.

01:17And it resulted in a guilting hathol from the Ombudsman.

01:20President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

01:23made an executive clemency to Mabilog.

01:26The President decided to

01:29grant the request of

01:31former Mayor of Iloilo City,

01:35Jed Mabilog,

01:37because he pleaded that

01:40his

01:41liabilities or disabilities

01:44under that decision of the Ombudsman

01:47should be expunged.

01:49You will also recall that he was forced to leave the country

01:53because of a threat on his life

01:57that he perceived to be coming from

01:59the national leadership at the time.

02:02President Duterte accused him of being the

02:05drug lord in

02:08Iloilo City.

02:10In 2017, Mabilog was appointed as Mayor of Iloilo City

02:14because of a serious dishonesty

02:16that was filed against the Ombudsman in 2013

02:19because of his inability to explain his greed for wealth.

02:22In spite of this,

02:24the Palace acknowledged the good work of Mabilog.

02:27In his leadership, Iloilo City was named

02:30as a livable city

02:32by the National Competitiveness Council of the Philippines.

02:36The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency also awarded

02:39the Anti-Illegal Drive Campaign to Mabilog in 2016.

02:43According to the Palace,

02:45along with the executive clemency,

02:47the administrative penalties and disabilities against Mabilog were reimbursed.

02:52This means, according to DILG Secretary John V. Cremulia,

02:56civil rights, such as the right to run in Mabilog's case,

03:01were restored.
