02:27Hello.
02:28Thank you for having us.
02:29Maraming maraming salamat.
02:32Happy anniversary.
02:33Maraming maraming salamat.
02:35Maraming salamat.
02:37Kumusta kayong dalawa?
02:38Thank you for being here.
02:40Unahin ko na magpo-congratulate ako.
02:42Hindi lamang for your anniversary,
02:44but siguro for your 30th year as a talk show host.
02:48Hindi ko alam kung natatandaan mo,
02:50but yung isa sa mga unang-unang talk shows mo dito,
02:53kayo yata ni Don Sulueta.
02:55I was one of your guests.
02:57Maliit pang waistline ko na ito.
03:00Maraming maraming salamat.
03:02Over 30 years ago actually.
03:03Yes, 1995.
03:04Congratulations.
03:05Over 30 years ago, yes.
03:06Congrats, Tito Boy.
03:07That was a show.
03:08Don hosted RSVP pagkatapos po ng Penthouse.
03:12And then RSVP became Show & Tell,
03:15which I hosted naman with Ms. Gretchen Barreto.
03:18And then we started StarTalk.
03:20Salamat.
03:2130 years.
03:22Meron pa kayo ni King Chris.
03:25That's right.
03:26Meron pa kayong show noon.
03:28Maraming maraming salamat.
03:29Congrats and happy anniversary, Tito Boy.
03:33Exactly why we wanted to talk to you today,
03:37dahil gusto namin malaman ng sambayanan,
03:40ang iba pang mga detalye tungkol sa buhay ni Tita Glo.
03:44Boots, Amelia,
03:46dalhin nyo nga kami doon sa unang pagkakataon
03:50na nag-meet kayo ni Tita Glo.
03:53Where was that?
03:54How was that?
03:55Tell us the story.
03:56Tita Boots, mauna ka na.
03:57Unang-unang nasilayan ko,
03:59ang ganda ni Tita Glo in person,
04:02was sa shooting ng Monghita,
04:05ng mga 1952 ito.
04:06This was one of her leading roles,
04:08first leading roles,
04:09if not the first.
04:11At ang kanyang leading man,
04:12ayong tatay ko,
04:13si Oscar Moreno.
04:15So pagkaalam ko,
04:17ito yata yung after Palasig,
04:19na meron kasama siya sa cast,
04:21ito yata yung solo niya,
04:22Monghita.
04:24What was your reaction when you saw her?
04:26Mesmerized.
04:27Kasi ano eh,
04:29hindi lang maganda,
04:30pero makita mo na galing sa loob.
04:33Galing sa loob.
04:34As within, so without.
04:36Okay.
04:37She had that presence though,
04:39na parang,
04:40that radiated.
04:42Oo.
04:43Without effort, ha?
04:44Hindi trying hard.
04:46It was just her inner life,
04:48siguro.
04:49Amelia, ikaw?
04:50Ako, I met her 1987.
04:54That was right after na bumalik
04:56ang ABS-CBN Channel 2,
04:58tapos we were all in Casa Marcos,
05:01yung time na yun.
05:02Wala na yung restaurant na yata yun ngayon.
05:04Sa may Green Hills,
05:05malapit sa Regal.
05:07So, doon kami lahat pinatawag
05:09para magkakilakilala
05:10ang buong cast ng palibasa lalaki.
05:13And of course,
05:14na doon ang napakagandang
05:15si Miss Gloria Romero.
05:17E nung bata ako,
05:18nanonood lang ako tuwing hapon
05:19ng lahat ng pelikula niya.
05:21Sa Channel 9,
05:22diba, yung pinapanood lahat
05:23yung mga pelikula ng Sam Paguita,
05:25ikaw, tita,
05:26minsan napapanood ko doon,
05:27LVN.
05:28So, sa loob-loob ko,
05:29parang,
05:30makakatrabaho ko siya.
05:31And then when I saw her,
05:32medyo madilim ang Casa Marcos eh,
05:34pero kita mo yung yun nga,
05:35yung radiance ni Tita Glow,
05:37yung liwanag at aliwalas
05:39ng mukha niya,
05:40na wala kang makifeal sa kanya
05:42na yabang na ako si Miss Gloria Romero.
05:45Wala siyang ganon.
05:46Hi, hi, hi, I'm Amie,
05:48ganyan siya.
05:49I'm Amelia, ganon.
05:51Atsaka that presence.
05:52Yeah.
05:53That presence.
05:54Atsaka I liked what you said.
05:55Atsaka yung smile.
05:56Without trying.
05:57Yeah.
05:58Oo, oo, without trying.
05:59Wala.
06:00I mean, there are people
06:01who are born with it.
06:02Let's go to your most memorable
06:04experience.
06:05Yung talagang,
06:06the experience,
06:08the encounter,
06:09the conversation
06:10that stands out
06:11in your mind.
06:12Ano yun?
06:13Ako siguro,
06:15a couple of years back,
06:18gumawa kami na isang commercial.
06:20Print ito.
06:22Wellness product.
06:24Nagulat ako kay Tita Glow
06:26kasi game na game pala siya,
06:28nakarugged ng outfit.
06:30Pareho kami out of the box
06:31ang characterization doon.
06:32And she was so game.
06:34Tapos meron kami mga yoga poses
06:36na ako hindi ako makaagwanta
06:38sa yoga pose.
06:39Pero siya,
06:40kayang-kaya niya.
06:42Game na game.
06:43Ten years older than me,
06:44di ba?
06:45So nagulat ako.
06:46Atsaka napaka-professional
06:47up to that time.
06:48And then, wala,
06:49walang reklamo.
06:51Kahit na puyat.
06:52Wala, wala talagang reklamo.
06:54Oo.
06:55Amelia, ikaw?
06:56Ako siguro yung mga
06:57first taping days namin
06:59for Palibasa lalaki
07:00kasi imagine mo,
07:01out of nowhere,
07:02wala naman akong background
07:03sa acting and everything,
07:04here comes Tita Glow.
07:06Pag tinawag na yan,
07:07to throw lines na.
07:09Pag kami lahat may hawak pang script,
07:11Tito Boy,
07:12babasahin namin yung mga linya namin,
07:13ganyan.
07:14Gloria Romero nakaganyan lang.
07:16Tapos titignan ka lang niya.
07:17Pag narinig niyang nasabi mo
07:19na yung linya mo,
07:20na last line mo,
07:21at magsasalita na siya,
07:22sasagot siya.
07:24Tapos, minsan hindi pa yung sasagot.
07:26Nakalimutan mo yung linya mo,
07:27Iha.
07:28Ito yung sasabihin mo.
07:30Alam niya,
07:31ihintayin pa niya minsan yung ano,
07:33ultimo yung period,
07:34ganyan.
07:35So, ito yung linya mo,
07:37Iha,
07:38wag mo kalimutan.
07:39Ito, ganyan, ganyan.
07:40Hanggang saang tagal na,
07:41tumatagal na yung mga boys,
07:43hindi naman nagbabasa ng script.
07:45Sabi ni Tita Glow,
07:46ano ba ito,
07:47Amelia, mga kasama natin,
07:48hindi nagbabasa ng script,
07:50Iha.
07:51Ganyan.
07:52So, ako talaga doon,
07:54yun ang unang-unang natutunan ko
07:56kay Tita Glow
07:57when it comes to,
07:58like, taping,
07:59whether that's TV show na hosting
08:01or acting,
08:02is you really have to read your script
08:04and memorize it by heart.
08:05You show up ready.
08:06Yes.
08:07Yan si Tita Glow.
08:08So, yan ang naman ako talaga sa kanya.
08:10At saka, yung lagi siyang ano,
08:12yung,
08:13Amelia,
08:14yung kapatid mo ba?
08:16Ready na?
08:18Ganyan.
08:19Scene siya patag.
08:20Sasagot naman ako,
08:21Mami, nasa kwarto pa kaya ata siya.
08:23Nagkikilay,
08:24hindi pa tapos.
08:26Antayin natin.
08:28Ganyan lang si Tita Glow, diba?
08:30Lovely woman.
08:31Wala kang maririnig sa kanya na
08:33galit,
08:34reklamo,
08:35kahit yung isang eksena noon sa palibasa
08:37na accidentally
08:39nabasa siya ni Joey
08:41at saka ni Richard.
08:43Kasi diba, lagi naman namin binablock yun
08:45sa mga hindi po nakakaalam
08:46sa palibasa lalaki noong araw,
08:48pag-ending,
08:49ang basaan,
08:50nandun ang basaan.
08:51Either mababato ka ng tubig,
08:53itlog,
08:54soft drinks,
08:55diba?
08:56So,
08:57sa blocking,
08:58dapat hindi siya papasok.
08:59I don't know kung anong nangyari,
09:01bakit biglang pumasok si Tita Glow.
09:03Pagpasok niya,
09:04siyang bato naman ni Joey
09:06ng tubig.
09:07So, siyang tinamaan.
09:09Basang-basa.
09:10Ang sabi lang ni Tita Glow, ganito,
09:12Joselito,
09:14Ricardo.
09:16Ganyan lang.
09:17Galit na siya noon.
09:18Tapos,
09:19Joselito,
09:20Ricardo.
09:22Tapos binato yung balde.
09:24Ganyan lang niya.
09:25Pero, diba?
09:26Napaka demure pa rin.
09:27Napaka ganda pa rin.
09:29Parang pag tinitignan mo siya,
09:31marunong kayang magalit si Tita Glow?
09:33Aside from that,
09:34legendary ang ganda.
09:36There was an interview
09:37kung saan
09:38Tito Dolph was quoted to have said
09:40na noon kanilang panahon
09:41sa Sampaguita Pictures,
09:43eh lahat daw yata
09:44ng bachelors,
09:45ng mga binata,
09:46ay niligawan
09:47si Tita Glow.
09:49You know,
09:51how do we say this?
09:53We are in a business
09:54kung saan napakarami
09:55ng magaganda.
09:57Oo.
09:58What was that beauty like?
10:01For Tita Glow, siguro.
10:02What was that beauty like,
10:04Butch?
10:05Siguro facially, no?
10:08Talaga perfect yung beauty niya.
10:10Whether you take the face as a whole
10:12or you take it feature by feature.
10:14Individually.
10:15Maganda talaga.
10:16Separately ang mata,
10:17ang ilong.
10:19Pero para sakin,
10:20it was because of her
10:21interior life.
10:23It was the inner glow,
10:25the inner beauty
10:26that radiated sa labas.
10:28Atsaka yung kombinasyon ng dalawang yun.
10:30Diba?
10:31Napakaganda ng loob at labas.
10:33Yes.
10:34Mabuti at mabait na tao.
10:36Atsaka puminsan,
10:37diba, iniisip natin,
10:38para maging magaling ka na artista,
10:40you have to have some rage in you
10:43or passion.
10:44Eto parang,
10:45siguro kahit mamapatay na siya ng tao,
10:49sasabihin ba niya,
10:50darling,
10:51pation kita.
10:52Iha.
10:54Pero meron pala siyang inner rage na
10:58pag kailangan ilabas,
11:00ilalabas.
11:01Pag yung medyo kontrabida siya
11:02o medyo may galit na kailangan ilabas,
11:04lalabas.
11:05Lalabas talaga.
11:06That's an actor.
11:07Oo.
11:08Pero pag tatanungin mo siya,
11:09lagi niyang sinasabi dati,
11:10hindi naman ako maganda.
11:12Sinasabi niya.
11:13Oo, sinasabi niya yun.
11:14Minsan,
11:15no, mama, sabi ko,
11:16mami, perfect ang iyong nose,
11:17diba?
11:18Pati yung cheekbones niya,
11:19lahat perfect.
11:20Parang akala mo,
11:21talagang parang pininta mo.
11:23Diba?
11:24Na-perfect, na-perfect yung kanyang isura.
11:26And as an actor,
11:28napaka-versatile.
11:29Lalo ng,
11:30kasi iba't-ibang henerasyon.
11:31Nag-extras,
11:33titaglo,
11:34naging leading lady.
11:35And then,
11:36in the 80s,
11:37Naging lasingera sa palibasa.
11:39Palibasa.
11:40And then she took on roles na gray,
11:42iba-iba.
11:43And then,
11:44yung from drama,
11:46she could do comedy.
11:48Yes.
11:49Ang timing niya.
11:50Mahirap ang comedy.
11:51Ikawan mo yan.
11:52Oo, oo, oo.
11:53Yan talaga yung kahanga-hanga kay mommy.
11:55Because you also did some comedy films,
11:57diba?
11:58It's a different rhythm.
11:59Mahirap. Mahirap talaga.
12:00Pero komedyante rin kasi si mommy talaga
12:02sa totoong buhay.
12:03Like?
12:04Like diba pag minsan mga ano yan,
12:06mga,
12:07Amelia,
12:08kailangan ba talaga yung gano'n?
12:10May mga ganyan siya,
12:11mga,
12:12mga pa-joke niya,
12:13na,
12:14alam mo yung,
12:16ang dating ng mga joke niya.
12:18Ganyan siya.
12:19Itatapon lang niya yung joke niya.
12:21Itatapon lang.
12:22And diba sabi nga,
12:23if you're a comedian,
12:24that's the best way to cast your joke.
12:26Just throw it.
12:27Oo, throw it.
12:28At kung tayo'y kakausap
12:30ng mga kasamahan natin dito sa industriya,
12:33kadalasan ang mga salitaan na gagamitin ay,
12:35napakabait,
12:36kind,
12:37she was very generous,
12:38she was prim and proper,
12:39she was very proper.
12:41Sa ating pagbabalik po ay,
12:43ilang mensahe mula sa ating mga kaibigan sa industriya.
12:46And I'd like to find out,
12:48what your last conversation like?
12:51What was it like?
12:52With the great Gloria Romero.
12:54Kami magbabalik po,
12:55dito sa Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.
12:57With that, the show.
12:58Kami magbabalik po,
12:59dito sa Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.

13:02and si Amelia Perez.

14:22That last encounter.
14:23That last encounter.
14:24I was so thankful and grateful that I was invited.
14:27December 2023, the video that I posted.
14:31That was our last conversation and last meeting.
14:34That was her tribute to Tita Daisy in Manila Hotel.
14:40I think you were there, Tita.
14:41We were there.
14:42Yes, we saw each other backstage.
14:45So when I went out, I gave her a message.
14:49Then I approached her and I embraced her.
14:52She told me,
14:53I'm old, Amelia.
14:55I'm really, really getting old.
14:57She told me that.
14:59Then I said,
15:00But you're still beautiful, Mommy.
15:02I said that to her.
15:03Then she said,
15:04You, Amelia,
15:06You were beautiful when you were young.
15:08She said that.
15:09But why are you more beautiful now?
15:11She even joked.
15:13Then I embraced her.
15:14That was our video that I posted.
15:16I embraced her.
15:17Yeah, and I kissed her.
15:19That's what she kept telling me.
15:21I'm old already, Amelia.
15:23That's what she kept telling me.
15:24And then, of course, she always asked me,
15:26How are the kids?
15:27She always asked me that.
15:29Even before,
15:30when we were done reading the script,
15:33every now and then,
15:34we would talk on the phone.
15:35Or when it was her birthday,
15:36I would greet her.
15:37She always asked me,
15:39How are you, Mom?
15:41Do you have a job?
15:42She was always like that.
15:44How's Addy?
15:46She would always ask me that.
15:48Because, of course,
15:49she became my mother for 12 years.
15:50She saw me taking care of the house.
15:53I had a boyfriend.
15:54We got divorced.
15:55Then we got married.
15:56We got divorced.
15:57So she knew my journey.
15:59She always asked me that.
16:01Do you have a job, Mom?
16:03Are you okay, Mom?
16:04How's Addy, Mom?
16:06She was always like that
16:07when we talked.
16:08And these are meaningful questions.
16:09Yeah.
16:10What I will never forget,
16:11aside from that tribute
16:14where we met,
16:16the last two encounters I had with her,
16:19she just said,
16:21Salamat.
16:22Thank you, boy.
16:25Because I'm not the type
16:27to cry like that.
16:30Nothing.
16:33Nothing.
16:35She always said,
16:37And why is this important to me?
16:39For me,
16:41gratitude should be expressed.
16:44You do not assume
16:46that the other understands
16:48your gratitude.
16:49Say, Salamat.
16:50Say, Thank you.
16:52And that's the greatest lesson
16:54I learned from Tita Glo.
16:56Not the long conversations
16:58because we've had conversations.
16:59But like I said earlier,
17:01we have some messages
17:03from our friends in the industry.
17:06Let's watch.
17:08What kind of friend is he?
17:10He has no mercy.
17:11He's so kind.
17:12I really don't have
17:15a friend like him.
17:18That's why I said,
17:19wherever you are, Glo,
17:21I'm always there for you.
17:22I pray for you.
17:23Pray for us too.
17:25I will never forget
17:27how professional Tita Glo was.
17:30She was truly an inspiration
17:32to our new artists
17:35at that time.
17:36You will be missed, Tita Glo.
17:38You will always be an inspiration
17:40to us actors.
17:42Tita Glo was such a kind person.
17:47That's why we became very close
17:50during that taping.
17:51It's very sad,
17:53but Tita Glo knows
17:56that I love her
17:59and she loves me too.
18:02I want to say that
18:04she is really
18:06the queen of Philippine cinema.
18:10She has always been
18:11a wonderful person.
18:12Very lovable,
18:13very sweet,
18:14very kind,
18:15very soft-spoken,
18:16and always prim and proper.
18:19She's a big loss to the industry,
18:21a big loss to the movie world.
18:24She will be missed.
18:25Tita Glo will be missed.
18:27Thank you so much.
18:29If you were to write,
18:31for example,
18:32we were given the opportunity,
18:34if you were to write
18:35the epitaph for Tita Glo,
18:37how would it go?
18:38Gloria Romero.
18:40I thought of Serviam.
18:43It's Latin for,
18:44I serve.
18:45Because she served
18:46the industry well.
18:47Yes, she did.
18:48She served through her acting,
18:49through her persona.
18:50For Mowel Fund in particular,
18:52she supported Mowel Fund.
18:54Because she knew the plight
18:55of the young people.
18:56That's where she came from.
18:57Right.
18:58Amelia, what would you say?
19:00Maybe her love.
19:04Loving and being kind.
19:07Being kind to everyone.
19:10She loved and she was kind.
19:12Yes.
19:13That's really her.
19:14You can't hear anything from her.
19:17Painful words
19:18or bad words
19:19from other people.
19:20Beautiful human being.
19:21Yes.
19:22She's just joking.
19:23Yes.
19:24That's the right one.
19:25Beautiful human being.
19:26Thank you so much, Amelia.
19:27Thank you, Tito Boy.
19:28Thank you so much.
19:30And happy birthday.
19:32Happy birthday.
19:33Two days from now, am I right?
19:34Two days from now.
