00:00The Job Fair of the Job Street and the Department of Labor and Employment was held

00:04together with the Pasay City Public Employment Service Office.

00:08This is Noel Talacay's report.

00:12Just last year, Federico graduated from the College of Civil Engineer.

00:18He passed the licensure exam right away.

00:21That's why he was confident that he can get a job

00:24that will match his degree.

00:27My career is fit for SMGC because we're on the design of the buildings.

00:32Federico is one of the thousands of college graduates

00:36who were selected for the Job Fair of the Job Street and the Department of Labor and Employment

00:41together with the Pasay City Public Employment Service Office.

00:45He came from Pangasinan.

00:47That's why it's important for him to go home to his family

00:51with good news.

00:53It's very important because it's my first job.

00:55This is my starting point.

00:57According to Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma,

01:01the purpose of the Job Fair is to encourage the workers

01:05to resign from their jobs immediately

01:08so that they can go abroad,

01:09just like the small salary and working environment

01:13that the government wants to reduce

01:15the number of people working abroad

01:17who sometimes go back to their hometowns.

01:20There are several factors that you have to consider

01:23so that we can see all the workers

01:27that the overseas employment is just an option.

01:30According to JobStreet.com,

01:32an online job board,

01:33there are jobs in the country.

01:35The truth is,

01:36they post 400,000 jobs every quarter of the year.

01:42In 2024,

01:43they posted 2.4 million jobs on their website.

01:47According to JobStreet Philippines,

01:50the skills of Filipino workers

01:53in getting a job should be improved.

01:56That's why the upskilling and reskilling session

01:59of TESDA and JobStreet is included in the Job Fair.

02:03What we want to address with JobStreet CareerCon 2025

02:07is to make sure that the conversations on upskilling

02:10and reskilling can be in place

02:13because we also need to address

02:16the underemployment of Filipinos.

02:19According to DOLE,

02:20there are 126 local employers

02:23and 6 overseas companies

02:25that are included in the Job Fair.

02:28There are 5,000 job opportunities

02:30from the industry of finance,

02:32shipping and logistics,

02:34food and beverage,

02:35retail,

02:36and business processing outsourcing sectors.

02:39There is also a one-stop shop

02:41where job seekers can be updated

02:44on top-of-the-line documents

02:46like SSS, Onibig, PhilHealth, and many more.
