00:00After the Lunar New Year celebration, a tragedy happened in a part of Binondo, Manila.
00:07After a condominium was burned down, two were confirmed to be sick.
00:12Isaiah Mirafuente returns to the center of the news.
00:18The supposed happy celebration of the Chinese New Year
00:21only lasted for a few hours, but it became a disaster.
00:25Because it was past 3 in the morning,
00:28a fire broke out in a unit on the 35th floor of a high-rise building condominium in Binondo, Manila.
00:35What's more shocking is that two women in their 30s were injured
00:39after being trapped in their bedroom.
00:42Both victims are relatives of the owner of the unit that was burned down.
00:47According to the Bureau of Fire Protection, seven were trapped because of the fire,
00:51but five were lucky enough to be rescued by the BFP.
00:54The two victims were sleeping in the room where the fire started.
01:00It only took more than an hour for the unit to catch fire.
01:03Some of the residents of the other unit used a ladder to get down.
01:08According to a resident on the 38th floor of the condominium,
01:11it was even harder for them to escape.
01:14We just woke up in the basement of our door
01:18because we didn't know what was happening outside.
01:22When we opened the door, the fireman told us that we should go down
01:27because there was a fire on the 35th floor.
01:30When we opened the door, the smoke was already in the hallway.
01:35This condominium is located 55 floors above the ground.
01:37According to the BFP, it was estimated that 4.5 million pesos were lost because of the fire.
01:43There were no other injured people in the unit, except for the victims.
01:47We would like to remind our countrymen to be careful of the unplugged electricity.
01:58If we don't have electricity, we should look for it so that there won't be any accident.
02:07Until now, the BFP is still investigating the cause of the fire.
02:12Meanwhile, a commercial establishment in Macapagal Boulevard in Pasay City was burned down last night at 8 p.m.
02:22The fire started in a Korean restaurant and no one was injured.
02:28The BFP is still investigating the cause of the fire and what caused the fire that lasted for an hour.
02:37I'm Zayan Mirafuentes for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
