00:00The Commission on Elections, or COMELEC, is ready to abide by the law enacted that was certified by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.

00:08for the postponement of BARM parliamentary elections to October as an urgent bill.

00:14Even now, the printing of ballots for the parliamentary elections has been pushed back yet again.

00:20COMELEC explained that if the postponement proceeds,

00:23they might have to change the list of candidates for the parliamentary district representatives.

00:28Because of this, it is possible that the seven districts allocated for Sulu

00:33could not be designated or reassigned to other cities of BARM.

00:37This will allow the region to have 80 parliamentary district representatives,

00:41which is stated in the Bangsamoro Organic Law.

00:45In case this process of redistricting proceeds,

00:49the COMELEC must conduct another filing of certificates in June, July, and on August

00:54on the start of the printing of the ballots.

00:57We ordered the Printing Committee to set aside the printing

01:02if we are talking about the Bangsamoro parliamentary elections.

01:05Because the printing of the Bangsamoro national and local elections will continue.

01:10But for the parliamentary elections, they need to be set aside first

01:12because we can do that at the end.

01:15That depends on whether the Parliament Act or the Act of Parliament

01:22will re-apportion the parliamentary districts

01:26because they need to distribute the seven districts

01:32that were originally allocated for Sulu.

01:36They need to amend the Election Code, the Administrative Code, the Local Government Code,

01:42and they need to pass a law that will distribute the seven districts.
