Peter Dutton has committed a future Coalition government to supporting ‘in principle’ the Northern Territory government's list of seven key requests to address crime in Alice Springs. The Northern Territory government says the Albanese government has so far only responded to one of the seven requests, enabling greater use of drones by police. The Prime Minister's office has been contacted for comment.

00:54But to date, the federal government has only enacted one of them, granting a drone exemption to Alice Springs police.
01:01This announcement by the federal coalition will send a very clear message that they are listening, they care
01:06and that they're willing to step up and take action alongside a territory government whose focus is community safety.
01:13Recently promoted to Shadow Minister for Government Efficiency,
01:17the local senator adding her support to the coalition's pledge for the benefit of the community.
01:23The likelihood of those individuals spending their money on things that they need increases.

01:36The federal government did not respond to questions but previously told the ABC it had pushed back against the Chief Minister's request to reform Centrelink
01:44because shifting everyone's welfare payments to the same days could have unintended consequences.
