00:00The 200 pesos increase in the minimum wage of workers in the private sector has already been announced in the House of Representatives.
00:08The labor groups are happy about it, but the group of employers has a problem.
00:14Tina Pangaliban Perez was the one who pointed it out.
00:18Until the end!
00:20Until the end!
00:22By the law! By the law!
00:25The House Committee on Labor and Employment has already approved the bill for the 200 pesos daily minimum legislated wage hike for all workers in the private sector.
00:36This happened one day after several labor groups and congressmen spoke about it, led by House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
00:46The current daily minimum wage in the NCR is 645 pesos.
00:52It is stated in the bill that all employers in the private sector, whether agricultural or non-agricultural,
00:59and whatever their capital and number of employees, must pay the 200 pesos increase.
01:06The workers will be charged 50,000 to 100,000 pesos and will be imprisoned for two to four years.
01:15That's four years. It's been more than eight months since the hearing because we need to give the right opportunity to all groups,
01:24groups, groups of leaders, investors, employers, workers, and our government.
01:32But according to the Employers Confederation of the Philippines, the benefits will be limited.
01:39It is also possible that the price of products and services will increase.
01:44If the minimum wage is approved by the legislative wage hike, only 16 percent of the 52 million are benefited.
01:54The other 84 percent, many of them are in the informal sector, many of them have no employers.
02:03That's a remedy. They will increase their price if the market can afford it or if the number of people will decrease.
02:11It is also possible for foreign businessmen to go abroad because of the different policies of the government.
02:18People are being harassed and the investors are afraid because they know that we have a policy.
02:24If the wage is suddenly decreased, we will be unpredictable. Our investors are afraid of us.
02:31The Panokala is being held for 24 hours so that the Panokala can go to the chamber because only a few days are left
02:38before the session is adjourned on February 7 to prepare the campaign period for the election of 2025.
02:46To speed up the approval of the Panokala, some congressmen are calling on the President to issue an urgent certificate.
