Marcos 'disturbed' by Chinese 'spies'

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Jan. 31, 2025 says he is 'very disturbed' by the alleged Chinese spies monitoring activities at the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) sites.

00:10No, we have no official contact with China. The investigative services are still developing more information to see exactly what operations these five have been doing while they've been here in the Philippines.
00:32Some of them have been here for a long time and are married to Filipinas. They are called sleepers. If we talk to them, they might tell us if there are others we can go to and explain what they are doing.
00:57Sir, are you not bothered that their spy cameras are pointed at vital installations, at EDCA sites?
01:06That's why we arrested them because of course we are very disturbed by anyone conducting such espionage operations against our military and the services we are trying to provide the people.
