Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh: The devastating impact of Storm Eowyn
Transcript
00:00Here I am in Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh with evidence of that devastation, of the devastation that the storm has caused.
00:07And it's had a severe impact across all four gardens of Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.
00:12Here, Logan, Benmore and Doig.
00:16Lots of trees down, lots of trees damaged.
00:19Damaged buildings, damaged the glass houses here.
00:22So we've got a really big job ahead of us.
00:25It's going to cost money which is why we have launched a public appeal.
00:29And I very much hope that those people who follow our work, love our gardens and love what we do will support us generously.
00:37I popped into the Edinburgh Garden early on Saturday and was blown away by the enthusiasm, the commitment of all the staff that had come in
00:47to help in the aftermath of the storm to make things safe, to work out the priorities for future works and to start the clear up.
00:57And a big thank you goes to the team.
01:00But looking at a positive future, we will clear up, it will take many months, we will replant.
01:07And the gardens, all four gardens are still brilliant.
01:11And thank you very much for your support.
