Transcript
00:00Well, the 67th annual Grammy Awards are this Sunday and some of the most popular names in music are up for several awards
00:06Yeah, it's said to be a showdown on music's biggest night
00:15Well Beyonce leads the way with 11 nominations, but she's never won album of the year
00:20Can you believe that it could be tough this year though with competition from Sabrina Carpenter?
00:24Charlie XCX Billy Eilish and Chapel Rowan just to name a few
00:28So read it joining us right now is Aaron Axel son and on-air personality from live 105. Hey, good morning
00:34Okay, how are you? Thanks for hanging out with us. And are you gearing up for the award show?
00:38Yeah, I'm excited. I'm excited that we have a
00:41Couple of Bay Area artists in the mix Metallica and Green Day. So that's all that's great and
00:47Aaron, you know, we love radio people John and I both started off in radio. So you were among friends here
00:54What do you think Beyonce has never won this but this award and do you think she's got the wind at her back this time?
01:00Um, I think so. I mean she's she's just had a phenomenal year and so
01:06Multifaceted with the country album and pop and she can just do it all so I think that's a good chance for her
01:11But think about in the history of the Grammys. There's a lot of iconic artists that have never won
01:16I mean think about Bob Marley
01:18kiss
01:20the Ramones
01:21Journey Beach Boys, so you never know how it's gonna kind of pan out. But um, I think she has a good chance this year
01:28That's actually a very good point. You're right
01:29There are some pretty big artists who have never walked away with one of those coveted trophies
01:33So let's talk about some of our Bay Area peeps that are gonna be there. We've got Metallica up for a few awards
01:38We've got Green Day as well. How are their chances looking?
01:41um, I think they but I mean Metallica are just Titans of their category and Titans of
01:48Of
01:49Heavy metal and they're such massive icons in their world and they constantly reinvent themselves. I think they have a really good chance
01:56And Green Day up for what three nominations, I think and it's just incredible to see what they've done from humble beginnings at Pinole
02:04Valley at Pinole High School and in East Bay and I used to go see Green Day play at a punk club called Gilman Street
02:11In Berkeley when I was a young East Bay punk rockers
02:14It's been really exciting to see them transcend and 14 albums out now and they have 13 number one songs at
02:22Alternative radio, which is just incredible to see
02:25What they've done and their storied history as well. And there's it's great. There's still a Bay Area band. They've never left
02:32They're still in the East Bay, which I just love that about them
02:35They're homegrown and determined to stay that way
02:37You know, we saw them in that benefit concert helping the people who are ravaged by LA wildfires
02:41it's also really important I think to mention that they
02:44There's going to be some tributes and performances planned to help raise money for those wildfire victims. It was pretty incredible last night
02:50They performed in LA and Billie Eilish joined them on stage and did a Green Day song last last night on earth
02:57It was some goosebumps pretty pretty special to see that it is. It's been so good to see so many people come together Aaron
