00:00I am Dracula and I welcome you to my house. I must apologize for not being
00:04there to greet you personally but I trust you found everything you needed.
00:07Here's a look at the neck of toys the horror of Dracula ultimate action figure.
00:30NECA announces a new ultimate action figure of the most famous vampire of them all, Dracula.
00:38NECA has created a 7-inch scale figure that captures the essence of Count Dracula from
00:42the classic 1958 film Horror of Dracula. With its intricate design and attention to detail,
00:47it is a true representation of the character's menacing presence.
00:50The ultimate Count Dracula figure comes with a range of accessories including a removable
00:54fabric cape, interchangeable heads and hands, a shovel, an unlit candlestick and a fiery
00:59candlestick. Recreate iconic scenes from the movie and tell your own story.
01:03Dracula is dead and well and living in London.
01:06Before we get a closer look though at the new neck of toys horror of Dracula,
01:09let's take the tape measure and see how tall the figure stands.
01:11That's actually a reference to the final film that featured Christopher Lee playing
01:14the role of Dracula as that was the original title.
01:16Something a little bit more satanic I think makes a little bit more sense.
01:19The figure though of Dracula is still gonna stand at about 7 and a quarter inches in height.
01:23He is. You can see it for yourself.
01:25That though translates to a figure that's 18 and a half centimeters tall.
01:29As for other Draculas, would plural of Draculas be Draculi?
01:33No, no, that's that's stupid.
01:36Here's the first what the figure looks like with the Nosferatu symphony of horror figure.
01:40And normally I wouldn't be able to say this because Christopher Lee was a pretty tall actor.
01:43Nosferatu is a little bit taller than him.
01:45He certainly though is a lot taller than Bela Lugosi's Dracula,
01:48one of the more recognizable vampires out there.
01:50We also got ourselves a second release of Bela Lugosi done in black and white,
01:54the Carfax Abbey.
01:55Truth be told, I haven't seen all of the hammer horrors of Dracula.
01:58I've seen maybe about half of them.
02:00I know Christopher Lee near the end of it didn't even want to play the role
02:03and he was basically nudged in the direction of doing it again.
02:05Of the accessories though that come included with the count,
02:08the figure first of all comes included with two candle operas.
02:11If you prefer one that's still lit and safe to hold,
02:13the figure comes included with one just with a standard flame.
02:16The flame's molded on the top.
02:18Normally we'd be able to do this with a real flame
02:19because obviously I'd be burning my own flesh off.
02:21But the figure does come included with a flame.
02:24As you can see, the candle comes included with a flame.
02:26A little bit of dripping wax goes a long way.
02:27That's a nice looking candle opera if it actually focuses.
02:30If you want to prefer one to...
02:31I mean, how well would that be to hold?
02:34There is one that actually does have the flame down the side.
02:36I think it's a really cool looking accessory.
02:38He can still hold it,
02:40although you may want to have him holding it just a little bit lower down the handle.
02:42Similar little in style.
02:44It's certainly from the standpoint of the candle opera end of things.
02:47The candles though are a little bit different from one another.
02:49The figure does also come included with a shovel.
02:52Shoo!
02:54Shoo!
02:55The figure comes included with a shovel,
02:56which yes, again, can be held in his hands.
02:59There's a little bit of rust on the bottom of the handle there.
03:01Would that be the head of the shovel?
03:03Would that still be a head of a shovel? I don't know.
03:05But you can see it's got a little bit more of a coarser texture to that.
03:08It's a cool looking shovel though.
03:09I don't get too excited for shovels,
03:11but I'm pretty excited for this shovel.
03:13The figure does also come included with a couple of swappable hands.
03:16Depending on where you want to start things when you get this guy out of the packaging,
03:18Truth be honestly told, again,
03:20he doesn't have these hands when you get him out of the packaging.
03:22They're different on the ends of his forms.
03:24What he actually does start with when you get him first out of his plastic prison,
03:28he comes with like sort of the vampiric,
03:31sort of, I guess, mauling hands.
03:33The hands themselves, as you can see,
03:34he has one ring on his pinky finger.
03:37Would that be the little piggy that went home?
03:39No, wait.
03:40This little piggy went to the market.
03:41Would the little piggy that went to the market would be the pinky finger?
03:43I don't even keep track of that anymore.
03:45Not keeping track of piggies though.
03:47You can see like each of the piggies, as you can see,
03:49represents sculpted nicely and painted equally well as well.
03:54Again, like I did change out the hands already.
03:56One of the other included hands the figure doesn't come included with is the pointing hand.
04:00I think that would be a good hand for displaying the figure on the shelf.
04:03Also equally well, the figure does come included with a gripping hand.
04:06So if you of course want to take yourself the candelabra,
04:08as I did do in the beginning of this review,
04:09pry the finger grip away from his palm and then sort of just delicately,
04:14delicately, he says, doing this.
04:16Just get the candelabra in his hands and there you go.
04:19You can have Count Dracula carrying around the candelabra.
04:23You can also do it as well with the shovel too.
04:25The last of the accessories also as well,
04:27the figure does come included with another gripping hand.
04:29So if you don't want to have the pointing hand on this side,
04:31you'd rather have him holding the shovel on the adjacent.
04:34The figure does also come included with this gripping hand too.
04:36I think that covers off pretty much all the territory when it comes to hands and accessories,
04:40short of then the interchangeable heads.
04:42Wait, did you just say interchangeable heads?
04:44I certainly did.
04:46Figure, first of all, does come included with a stock neutral expression, Christopher Lee.
04:51I don't know about you guys,
04:52but I do think the likenesses that Nick is pumping out now when it comes to their figures are getting better,
04:56better and better.
04:57Certainly does look a lot like Christopher Lee.
05:00He doesn't, he seems a little on the tired side.
05:02I mean, maybe now he's kind of getting into the later sequels where he's just like,
05:04Oh, I don't want to do Dracula again.
05:07I want to do theater.
05:08I want to do more like in-depth films.
05:10I don't want to just keep going back to the blood sucker.
05:13And they just say here, Christopher Lee, keep coming back.
05:16We've got ideas for a seventies Dracula film.
05:18I'm sure you'll love it.
05:19Anyways, the head sculpt for Christopher Lee, nonetheless, is fantastic.
05:23I don't think at all I would have done differently here for Dracula's face.
05:26Although there's options available, there certainly are.
05:29You can go either with this head sculpt.
05:30You can also go with this head.
05:33If I don't actually drop it, I don't know why this is so slippery for me,
05:35which now does introduce a few bit of teeth, top and bottom rows,
05:39a little trickling of blood also down to the bottom of his chin.
05:42That ain't cranberry sauce.
05:43No, it's not.
05:44And if for one better,
05:46can I actually hold all three of these?
05:48Let's just see if I can.
05:49He does also come with this.
05:50And then that's just more of the rabid face of Dracula.
05:53I love this head sculpt.
05:54I think really, if given the choice to choose one,
05:56because obviously he doesn't have pegs on his shoulders,
05:58would that be just ridiculous if he did?
06:00I would probably go with this head sculpt.
06:02Maybe it's my favorite.
06:03Or maybe even one of these two.
06:05I would probably not go with this one necessarily,
06:07but I mean, hey, you never know.
06:08If I do end up picking up another Christopher Lee Dracula,
06:11time will only tell.
06:11Maybe I'll display the figure with more than one look.
06:14Anyways, to change out the looks though for Dracula,
06:16just sort of hold on to his torso, just like that,
06:19and just wiggle the head from the post.
06:22Now I did notice though,
06:23there was a hard time getting this guy off the ball joint.
06:26Now I've heated the head with hot water
06:28and apparently that didn't do it enough.
06:29I probably may have wanted to go back in there even again
06:31and heat it again with like hot water or hairdryer.
06:35I have noticed though,
06:36have you also noticed that NECA
06:37doesn't seem to use the post systems anymore?
06:40For a while they were kind of going
06:41with just the regular cylinder posts.
06:43Maybe that was something
06:44that was gonna cause breakage down the road
06:46and maybe they were just having so many more issues
06:48that they switched back to ball joints.
06:49Ball joints are fine and good.
06:51The only problem with ball joints though
06:52is that they're a lot harder to remove the heads
06:54and even more difficult
06:55to try to put the heads back in place.
06:57I'm only gonna just float his head
06:58on the top of his neck for right now
07:00because the figure does also come in clue with his cape.
07:01Boy, that looks a little silly, doesn't it?
07:04Just giving him a stamp for at least right now.
07:05The figure does come also in clue with a really cool cape.
07:08The cape does have a little bit of elasticity to it.
07:12I do actually like the material that they use.
07:13I'm gonna just reach to the side here
07:14and bring in Bela Lugosi's Dracula.
07:17I do wanna show you though,
07:17it's not quite the same coloring of black.
07:20Christopher Lee's Dracula clearly has a darker black cape
07:23than the more lighter black that we got here for Bela's.
07:26The color also works a little bit differently too
07:28where Bela Lugosi's,
07:29if I can just bring back him for right now.
07:31On the back of his collar,
07:33there was a little clip piece.
07:34Can you see that?
07:35It probably would be a little bit helpful.
07:36I'll just put the figure down here for a second.
07:38If you look at Bela Lugosi's cape,
07:41there was this little lip of plastic.
07:43You see that right there?
07:44See that little lip?
07:45And that basically just tucked underneath the collar.
07:48It wasn't always an easy thing to get onto his head.
07:50I mean, a lot of times I just sort of clamped it
07:51onto the back of his neck and that was fine and good.
07:54With actually the case though of Lee's Dracula,
07:57what it basically is though,
07:58is it just sits on his shoulders.
08:01And the only thing kind of really keeping everything together
08:03is the way they've tied up the front.
08:05Now, I thought initially
08:06that this may have been actually a threading,
08:08but it turns out though,
08:09that it's actually a softer plastic.
08:12It seems rubbery enough that I don't worry as much
08:15that it's gonna necessarily break.
08:16But again, just be careful
08:17when it comes to putting this on top of his head.
08:19Now that we can go back though
08:20to a clearly awkward looking head sculpt.
08:22Let's just take that off right now.
08:23You have to remove the heads before you do anything.
08:26Take the cape, carefully slide it on top of his neck.
08:29This isn't though a tutorial
08:30on how to put a cape on a vampire.
08:32But just though in case you run into a vampire
08:34and the vampire says,
08:35hey, can you help me put on a cape?
08:37At least you'll have this video as a reference point.
08:39So let's go back to the head sculpt we were gonna use.
08:41Let's just take this
08:43and carefully put it back onto the ball joint.
08:44There we go.
08:45Snap it back in place.
08:46And now Dracula's cape isn't gonna go anywhere.
08:49Nice looking material though they've used for the cape.
08:51Now, the suit underneath,
08:53I suppose I probably should have looked at that first
08:55before we put the cape in place.
08:56He does basically have like a purple tie.
08:58Can you see that?
08:59I hope you can see that.
09:01The jacket though is with leaves,
09:03is a lot more buttoned up.
09:04It's a lot higher for example, than Bela Lugosi's.
09:06Bela Lugosi's Dracula also just had an open up jacket.
09:10I always kind of really liked the look of leaves
09:12because when you looked at it from the distance,
09:14there really wasn't a lot of white.
09:15So it sort of just had this cool black silhouette
09:18of his body.
09:19And really a lot of times you only saw,
09:21I guess really his face.
09:22The jacket though, if you look at it,
09:24it seems to only be buttoned up by like the first,
09:26maybe the second button and all the rest of it
09:27is free to do whatever it wants.
09:29This is softer plastic.
09:31One thing I was also interested to see
09:33was how much of the body from Bela
09:35were they gonna use before?
09:36And it doesn't seem like they are using anything.
09:38I mean, like the thighs, for example,
09:40the lower legs and even the footwear
09:42seems different though from the Lugosi's.
09:44So it looks like they have tooled brand new body parts
09:47for the arms, obviously the torso, the lower legs
09:49and even his footwear.
09:52The figure does, by the way,
09:53have peg holes in the bottoms of his feet.
09:55He doesn't have display stands.
09:56We don't tend to get display stands with NECA figures,
09:57but if you do happen to use a display stand,
10:00you could because he has universally sized holes
10:02on the bottoms of his shoes.
10:04I don't know why I said shoes like that.
10:06For the figure's articulation though,
10:07going back to this head sculpt as our default,
10:10that's gonna be on a ball joint,
10:11so it rotates back and forth.
10:12The one thing though I am a little worried about
10:15is where they've got this piece right here.
10:18Remember the little looped up,
10:20I guess little tied up bow,
10:22whatever he's got down below here for his cape.
10:25The only thing I have kind of an issue with this though
10:27is you may wanna kind of hold it down a bit
10:29when it comes to rotating his head back and forth
10:30because it seems so prone to kind of ride up
10:33the top of his neck.
10:35When you start to swivel this back and forth,
10:36I wonder if that's gonna start to grind the plastic.
10:38I mean, it's pretty close right now.
10:39I've had this in times
10:41when I have been kind of moving around
10:43and playing around with the figure's articulation.
10:44I've noticed like the string here
10:46gets pretty close to his neck
10:48that when you twist it,
10:49it sort of feels like it wants to rub against this.
10:51So you just wanna make sure it's,
10:52obviously it's far enough down there.
10:53The head looks up about that high,
10:55looks down about that low.
10:58You can also move it back and forth as well.
11:00Now for Dracula's arms, they do rotate all the way around.
11:03You can hinge them out.
11:04I would say at almost,
11:06I'm not confident to say 90 degrees exactly,
11:09a little less than 90.
11:11I guess some would say that's 90 degrees.
11:13A T-pose though for Dracula.
11:14The figure's arms do swivel back and forth.
11:16So he doesn't have any articulation here for his bicep,
11:19but he certainly most definitely has it here for his arms.
11:22The arms rotate all the way around.
11:23There's only just a single hinge there
11:24afforded to his elbows.
11:26And then when it comes to his hands,
11:27whether you use these hands
11:28or you wanna use the other hands,
11:29they rotate all the way around.
11:31Upper torso has a little bit of a ball joint bend.
11:34In fact, you can actually rotate it
11:35all the way around if you want to.
11:37Legs split out.
11:38The only thing,
11:39the one concern I also have with splitting the legs,
11:42not that you're gonna have Christopher Lee
11:43doing leg splits like this,
11:45is that, I don't know if it's gonna start
11:46to pry the plastic here up top,
11:48but I mean, at least they've given enough
11:50of a space down below here
11:51that you can do this much of a split for Dracula.
11:53I don't know why you would want to do any more than that.
11:55Legs move forward, legs move back.
11:57There's a swivel there at the top of the thigh.
12:00Figure does have a single hinge only for the knee.
12:03That lower leg also does rotate back and forth.
12:06He has ankle pivot up and down,
12:07and he also has ankle rocker as well.
12:10Maybe the last thing we'll also do too
12:13is let's just grab one of these hands.
12:15I just also wanna show you guys
12:15how to change out the hands.
12:17Just again, in case of holding onto the forearm,
12:19don't let go, whatever you do,
12:20and just wiggle this back and forth
12:22till finally it frees itself.
12:23Use the hand that you wanna use.
12:24Whether you're a vampire or not,
12:25thumbs will always go in.
12:27They do, that's true.
12:28And we'll just go ahead and get him
12:29in a pretty cool looking pose, just like that.
12:32All in all though, I am thrilled
12:34to finally have ourselves a Christopher Lee Dracula.
12:38I don't wanna think that he's one of those characters
12:40as a vampire.
12:41I posed this question not too long ago
12:43about what's the most recognizable vampire.
12:45A lot of people obviously went right away
12:46to saying Bela Lugosi.
12:49Some may have also said even Nosferatu,
12:52but one cannot overlook what we got here
12:54from the Hammer Horror Films
12:55and Christopher Lee portraying the role.
12:57There's something sort of more stoic
12:59the way he presented himself as a vampire.
13:01And now finally we get ourselves a release from NECA Toys.
13:04I couldn't be any bit more happier.
13:06I mean, from an accessory standpoint,
13:07I think he does pretty good for himself.
13:09Gets two variations of the candelabra.
13:11He also of course gets himself a shovel.
13:15And he gets some swappable hands.
13:17The thing though I like the most about this figure,
13:19and Molly, one reason to maybe contemplate
13:21the idea of picking up more than one,
13:23is that he has too many good head sculpts
13:25that you'd want to leave any behind inside the packaging.
13:28I don't think I necessarily will end up picking up three
13:30to accommodate three stellar sculpts like this,
13:33but at the very least, I may maybe twist my rubber arm,
13:36pick up another version of Christopher Lee,
13:38another figure of him,
13:39so I can have two different variations of him
13:41displayed on my shelf.
13:42All right, so I did a little looking online
13:44and sure enough, the head of the shovel is called the tip.
13:46I would have hoped it would have been
13:47a little bit more of an interesting name for it,
13:49something like old world,
13:50but apparently it's called the tip.
13:51That's the part of the shovel that enters into the ground.
13:53As for though, the pinky finger,
13:56this is certainly up for debate.
13:57If technically you were to run through this
13:59and you start with the largest thing,
14:00so let's just say you're gonna do this little piggy
14:03with like a toddler,
14:04you would start with the largest big toe
14:06and that would be this little piggy went to the market.
14:09Technically though, by the time you get to the pinky toe,
14:12you would already have tickled the person.
14:14The one that went wee, wee, wee all the way home
14:16isn't even really the pinky digit.
14:18That's the part you actually tickle the person.
14:20So really, if you were to go with that,
14:22the fourth last object, the fourth last toe
14:25would be the piggy that had none.
14:27And then the piggy that went wee, wee, wee all the way home,
14:29that's actually the part you tickle somebody.
14:31Did anybody really even care about what I just finished saying?
14:34Anyways, going back though to the horror of Dracula,
14:37not a horror at all.
14:39The Hammer Horror of Dracula though,
14:40Christopher Lee's,
14:41I don't wanna say like one of his most memorable roles,
14:43but if you follow horror, I mean certainly,
14:45he's pretty high up there for arguments
14:47as one of the best Draculas around.
14:49He certainly did quite several films,
14:50even though Christopher Lee
14:51was kind of really less interested.
14:53Some would even have made the argument
14:55that he sort of phoned it in near the ends of the sequels.
14:58But still though, we get ourselves
14:59a stellar looking Dracula,
15:00courtesy of the folks over at NECA Toys,
15:02several different cool accessories,
15:03two candelabras, and of course, three swappable head sculpts.
15:06The cape is pretty cool too.
15:07I actually do like the material
15:09that they've used for Christopher Lee's cape over Bella's,
15:11because this one's a little bit darker
15:13and it's a little smoother to the touch.
15:14Just though, be careful
15:16when you're putting it onto the figure's head.
15:17Obviously, you have to take the head off first,
15:19and that little string that he has in the front
15:21isn't in fact string at all,
15:22but rather it's very thin, thin plastic.
15:25So just be careful of that.
15:26All in all though,
15:26very happy that I had the chance
15:28to pick up Horror of Dracula.
15:29I ended up ordering this one on eBay.
15:31And of course, along with that,
15:32you could only imagine, as a Canadian collector,
15:34I paid through the roof,
15:35but I was finally happy to have this guy
15:37to add to the rest of my vampire collection.
15:39What do you guys think of the Horror of Dracula?
15:41And where do you put Christopher Lee
