00:00A political analyst said former UMNO youth leader Khairi Jamaluddin would be selling

00:06out if he were to follow Zaid Ibrahim's advice and join PAS.

00:11Shahza Shukri of International Islamic University Malaysia agreed with the former law minister's

00:16suggestion that contesting under PAS would give Khairi the best shot at winning an election.

00:22However, she said PAS does not really represent Khairi's political ideals and that he should

00:28instead enjoy the independence he has now as a co-host of the Keluas Kejap podcast.

00:34Last week, Zaid said Khairi should join PAS if he wants to make a political comeback as

00:38he believed the party offered the best path for his return to parliament.

00:43Another analyst, Asrul Hadi Abdullah Sani, said there was no urgency for Khairi to announce

00:48his next move.

00:50With his podcast and radio station appearances, Asrul said there was no need for Khairi to

00:55declare his political direction yet and open himself up to personal attacks.

01:00However, both Asrul and Shahza agreed that PAS stands to gain if Khairi were to join

01:06the party, which could leverage him to attract more urban non-Malay votes.
