Our Euronews International Correspondent, Valerie Gauriat, reports from the field as Ukrainian forces battle in one of the most crucial frontlines of the ongoing war.
Transcript
00:00This is one of the artillery units operating on the Bukrovsk front line in the Donetsk
00:07region of eastern Ukraine.
00:09They're fighting one of the most crucial battles of the ongoing Attrition War.
00:14Just minutes after our arrival, the team received a firing order.
00:32Russian troops are less than a dozen kilometres away and closing in on the nearby city of
00:37Bukrovsk, the last major town in the area on the way to central Ukraine.
00:41We have a maximum of 10 minutes to fire.
00:58Shooting orders are very frequent, it's the fourth time in a row within a few minutes.
01:11So we're back at the base, and the unit is relaxing just as if nothing was happening
01:22here.
01:23But the men know they're more exposed than ever.
01:41Some countries are suggesting that Ukraine should let go of some territory to end this
01:46war.
02:02The battle of Bukrovsk will be decisive in this war.
02:04The fears here are that if Russian troops capture or even bypass Bukrovsk, they could
02:11move further into the country and force Ukrainian troops to withdraw.
02:15The only way to mitigate this, according to Ukrainian commanders, is to cause as many
02:20Russian losses as possible.
02:22I'm Valery Goriya on the Bukrovsk front for Euronews.
