Dr Shoo Lee, neonatal expert, and Mark McDonald, barrister, speaking at a presser presenting new evidence from neonatal experts which has casted doubt on some of Lucy Letby's convictions for murder and attempted murder. Dr Lee has said there was no medical evidence of murder and that the medical evidence used to convict her was wrong. Mr McDonald followed this up saying that if the evidence used to convict Letby was indeed incorrect, her conviction is "unsafe" and "no crime was committed".

00:00Death or injury of all the affected infants were due either to natural causes or to errors in medical care.
00:08There were serious problems related to medical care of patients at this hospital.
00:13There were problems related to teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration at the Countess of Chester Neonatal Unit.
00:23In summary, ladies and gentlemen, we did not find any murders.
00:27In all cases, death or injury were due to natural causes or just bad medical care.
00:36Lucy was charged with seven murders and seven attempted murders.
00:41In our opinion, the medical evidence does not support murder in any of these babies, just natural causes and bad medical care.
00:53Our full report will go to Lucy Sparrister later this month and then it will be up to him in the courts to decide what next to do.
01:01We hope the authorities will consider our findings seriously and act accordingly
01:05because you will not find a better panel of experts anywhere in the world.
01:10If you are looking for the truth, you do not need to go any further.
01:15In this particular case, because they used my paper, I was curious to see what exactly did they use my paper for.
01:20When I saw the evidence that they gave, I was disturbed because it was wrong.
01:25After I gave the appeal, I realized that she had no further road to go because she had exhausted all avenues of appeal.
01:32Yet, it remained that the evidence was wrong.
01:35I did not know at the time whether she was innocent or guilty.
01:39What I did know was that the evidence that was used to convict her was wrong.
01:43To me, that is a problem.
01:46You should not be using wrong evidence to convict someone regardless of whether she is guilty or innocent.
01:50Lucy Letby was convicted because of the medical evidence that was presented to the jury.
01:54Medical evidence led by the lead prosecution expert, Dr. Derry Evans.
02:00If that evidence was at fault and was wrong, the conviction is unsafe.
02:06It is as simple as that.
02:08This is fresh evidence. This is new evidence.
02:11It is compelling evidence because of the nature of the people who are giving that evidence.
02:16It was not heard by the jury.
02:19If Dr. Hsiu-Li and the panel are correct, no crime was committed.
02:24If no crime was committed, that means that a 34-year-old woman is currently sitting in prison for the rest of her life for a crime that just never happened.
