00:00The second phase of Skills Up! Net Philippines was launched by ADB,

00:03while DTI created additional programs to train more than 800 workers.

00:09Dian Manalo has the report.

00:13To address the challenges facing the workforce,

00:17especially in the so-called high-growth industries,

00:20Skills Up! Net Philippines Phase 2 was formally launched by the Asian Development Bank.

00:26The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority,

00:30Department of Trade and Industry,

00:32and Philippine Trade Training Center Global MSME Academy are involved.

00:35This is the main strategy that will provide skills to Filipino workers

00:41for the development of the Philippine economy.

00:44The strength of the work is focused on the ability of people to produce goods or services.

00:56with the skills they need to thrive in a rapidly evolving job market.

01:00We do training for the MSMEs so that they can really become better at their skills

01:08and better also, you know, they learn more

01:12so that they can also work in other industries or industries that are thriving.

01:16Because of the success of Phase 1,

01:18which gave more than 15 million pesos grants to 5 employer networks

01:23that trained more than 600 workers,

01:27SunPH2's goal is to further diversify its benefits to additional sectors and regions.

01:34DTI also created additional programs for the training of more than 800 workers.

01:40In Phase 2, the six main sectors will focus on

01:44those with great economic and job opportunities.

01:48We need to make sure that specific industrial sectors

01:53are future-proofed, are up-skilled.

01:57Opportunities for re-skilling and up-skilling is provided

02:01to as many industry players as they possibly can,

02:05most importantly for medium, small, and micro enterprises.

02:10The program highlights the addition of the Memorandum of Agreement.

02:14This is a collaborative effort to strengthen micro, small, and medium enterprises in the country.

02:21Truly, the sun comes out not tomorrow but today.

02:25We in PTTC are truly honored to be in the forefront of this significant program

02:31that will capitalize on the existing and to be acquired skills of the Filipino workforce.

02:37For MSMEs who are interested in joining SunPH2,

02:41they can register as part of an employer network and apply for training grants.
