00:17Vice President Sara Duterte has been impeached in the House of Representatives.

00:22But that doesn't mean that she will be impeached because the Senate will pass the complaint.

00:31There is a motion to direct the Secretary General to immediately endorse to the Senate the impeachment complaint.

00:38Having been filed by more than one-third of the membership of the House or a total of 215 members,

00:46is there any objection?

00:48The Chair hears none.

00:50The motion is approved.

00:51The Secretary General is so directed.

00:54The session is suspended.

01:00Vice President Sara Duterte has been impeached in the House of Representatives.

01:10More than one-third of the membership of the House or a total of 215 members voted in favor of the impeachment complaint.

01:18Six issues were the main basis of the impeachment.

01:21Among those were the conspiracy to kill President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr.,

01:26First Lady Riza Araneta Marcos,

01:28and House Speaker Martin Lumualdez,

01:30the malversation of P612.5 million in confidential funds,

01:35and bribery and corruption in the DepEd.

01:37The complaint also mentioned the inalienable wealth and assets of the Vice President,

01:43involvement in extrajudicial killings,

01:45and his involvement in the destabilization.

01:48In the plenary, the House of Representatives also convened congressmen

01:52who will serve as prosecutors in the impeachment trial,

01:55including Congressman Jerviel Luistro,

01:57Romeo Acop,

01:58Roge Gutierrez,

01:59Joel Chua,

02:00Jill Bongalon,

02:01Loreto Acharon,

02:02Marcelino Libanan,

02:04Arnan Panaligan,

02:05Isabel Maria Zamora,

02:07Lawrence Defensor,

02:08and Jonathan Keith Flores.

02:10Before the Vice President is impeached,

02:13a prayer vigil was held earlier

02:15by groups who are pushing for Duterte to be impeached.

02:19They really feel that they can now use their hopes.

02:23Our reckoning with the Dutertes has already started.

02:28Our reckoning with their abuses in their positions,

02:31their abuses in the coffers of our country.

02:34So the due date of Sara Duterte is near.

02:36You know, we can feel it.

02:38We can feel it.

02:39Our gut feel is telling us that we got it.

02:44You know, when the pieces of evidence are presented

02:46to the members of the Senate,

02:48it will be hard for them not to convict the Vice President.

02:53Even if he is impeached,

02:54it doesn't mean that VP Sara will be removed from his position.

02:58The Senate will serve as impeachment trial court

03:01and it will be decided if he is convicted or acquitted.

03:05For now, the Senate is still waiting for the complaint.

03:09If in the House, one-third of the Congressmen

03:12are needed for impeachment,

03:14in the Senate, two-thirds of the Senators should support

03:18for the Vice President to be removed from his position.
