00:00Hello there welcome to your Wednesday evening weather update from the Met
00:04Office. It's steadily turning colder through the next few days but for the
00:08next 24 hours at least high pressure centred across the UK bringing with it
00:13the promise of some sunshine through Thursday before the centre of the high
00:17extends towards Scandinavia and we inherit an easterly drift. Still breezy
00:22towards more northern and western areas of Scotland but this easterly wind
00:26coming across the North Sea will introduce more cloud through Friday as
00:30well as the weekend and even some wintryness as well in any showery burst
00:35more about that in a moment. For the time being the skies are clearing any showers
00:40across Western Scotland and the north fading away. Notice of frost particularly
00:45from the Midlands northwards Northern Ireland Southern Scotland Eastern
00:48Scotland as well lowest temperatures possibly around minus 3 minus 4 in the
00:53depths of Wales Townsend City is coming in around minus 2 so yes a cold start to
00:58the day come Thursday morning it's crisp for most breezy for some but bright for
01:04everyone it's a lovely start to the day with lots of sunshine. Notice the breeze
01:09is developing across the southeast and that could introduce a bit more cloud
01:12across East Anglia as well as the far southeast there and that wind continues
01:16across Western Scotland and Northern Ireland inland a lighter wind blue sky
01:20and sunshine a lovely day to be out and about as temperatures rise to around
01:257 degrees Celsius for Scotland possibly a 9 for Belfast 8 across Mid Wales down
01:32towards London. So that's a picture tomorrow afternoon through the evening
01:37and overnight that frost returns it's going to be more widespread across
01:41Scotland as temperatures dip well below freezing particularly again across the
01:45countryside and extends towards Northern England the far north of Wales and some
01:49frostiness to start the day also for Northern Ireland but notice this wind
01:53bringing with it more in the way of clouds and some showers down towards the
01:57southeast now these could actually turn wintry through the day a mix of rain
02:01sleet and snow so the air is cold the wind is cold as well and into Saturday
02:07this weather front here brings some showery bursts again with a wintry mix
02:12to it so yes it's going to feel cold and that wind will really add to that chill
02:18effect. Now on Saturday most places seeing more in the way of cloud notice
02:22some wintry nests where we see those showery bursts towards the southeast one
02:27or two light showers coming in across the east coast best place to see some
02:31sunshine on Saturday Western Scotland. I'll see you later.
