00:00The fishermen in Palawan are allowed to catch Galunggong fish again after the three-month closed season.

00:15The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources is allowing the catch of Galunggong or Round Scad in northern Palawan
00:22for commercial fishing after the three-month closed season.
00:28The open season for the catch of Galunggong fish started on the first day of February and will last until October 31.
00:36The closed season for Galunggong fish was implemented since 2015
00:41under the Joint Administrative Order No. 1, Series of 2015 of the Department of the Interior and Local Government
00:48and the Department of Agriculture.
00:51It aims to give the fishermen a chance to grow and increase their catch during their open season
00:57and to maintain and have a large supply of Galunggong fish in the market.
01:02According to BFARM Memoropa Regional Director Roberto Abrera,
01:05the implementation of the closed fishing season for Galunggong fish in Palawan was effective
01:10because it resulted in positive results.
01:13Based on the data of the Philippine Statistics Authority,
01:16the production of Galunggong fish in Palawan increased from 7,507 metric tons in 2016
01:23to 8,146.84 metric tons in 2022 due to the implementation of BFAR.
