00:00Senate President Francis Chis Escudero said on Thursday that the Senate will not hold the impeachment trial against Vice President Sara Duterte during the session break.

00:10Daniel Manalastas has more.

00:14Can we say na walang mangyayaring impeachment trial during the break?

00:19Wala. Legally it cannot be done.

00:22That's the clear message from Senate President Francis Escudero on whether there will be an impeachment trial against Vice President Duterte during the Senate break.

00:32Escudero said they need a session to convene as an impeachment court.

00:37Para mag convene ang impeachment court, kailangan may sesyon ang Senado.

00:42Para malumpa ang impeachment ng judges, kailangan may sesyon ang Senado.

00:48Bagaman ang trial pwede mag-proceed kahit na recess, tulad na nga nangyari kay dati at imahong Chief Justice Corona, dapat ito'y masimulan, makonbeen, at mapanumpa ang mga judges kapag may sesyon.

01:04So kung may mangyayari mang aksyon o kaganapan kaugnayin ito, yan ay mangyayari sa June 2 pagresume ng Senado.

01:13Hindi namin ito mamadaliin, pero hindi rin namin labis na ipagpapaliban ito ng walang dahilan or ason.

01:22Meanwhile on special session, Escudero believes that it's an option that's as important as a session to vote on a proposed piece of legislation.

01:31But the Senate President was still asked if he can call for a special session to convene.

01:36Pusible, but that is a subject matter to be decided upon by the President.

01:41Escudero meanwhile slammed those who like to dictate to the Senators on how to act on a case of impeachment.

01:47Hindi naman siguro makatarungan o tama na pagkatapos nilang upuan ito ng ilang buwan.

01:52Biglang putbog kuwersahin, pipilitin, at sasabihan kami ng sino mang galing sa kamera na huy, bilisan nyo, aksyonan nyo, ano ba kayo?

02:01Hindi, hindi ganun at hindi ako papayag din nun.

02:05Escudero also insists on the Senate's fairness and in no way will the process be railroaded.
