00:00The House of Representatives has formed an impeachment secretariat to assist public prosecutors

00:07by providing technical and administrative support in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.

00:14House Secretary General Reginald Velasco formalized the establishment of the impeachment secretariat

00:21and highlighted its role in ensuring a smooth and efficient trial process.

00:31Several lawmakers lauded the creation of House Impeachment Secretariat

00:35which will provide technical and administrative support to public prosecutors

00:39handling the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.

00:43Under the newest memorandum order issued by House Secretary General Reginald Velasco,

00:48several units of the lower house were tasked to handle legal research, records management,

00:53stenographic transcription, information technology, security and administrative coordination.

00:59According to Secretary General Velasco,

01:01the House Impeachment Secretariat will ensure the orderly conduct of the impeachment trial,

01:06especially on the part of the prosecution panel.

01:09According to House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability Chair Rep. Joel Chua,

01:14one of the designated prosecutors of the House,

01:17The team and composition that is being formed in the House is a big help for the House prosecution panel

01:30because they will serve as our partners, especially in research, legal research, preparation and other things.

01:42This is a big thing for us.

01:44As of now, more groups have joined the call for the immediate start of the impeachment trial on the Vice President.

01:50In a statement from Caritas Philippines, the social action arm of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines,

01:56they emphasized that the trial should proceed immediately as it is a matter of national concern.

02:01Chua agrees with this, pointing out that delaying the trial could put their witnesses and evidence at risk.

02:07That's why we want the impeachment trial to start.

02:13As you know, we are also looking at the evidence that we have.

02:19The tampering of evidence is one thing.

02:22Second, our witnesses, we know that if the trial is prolonged, many will be afraid.

02:32As the trial proceeds, the start of impeachment, our evidence and our witnesses will be at risk.
