00:00My name is Patrice Goodman and I played Dot on Umbrella Academy.
00:05Hi, I'm Victoria Sawal.
00:06Yeah, I'm Jordan Claire Robbins. I am lucky to play Grace on the Umbrella Academy, aka Mom.
00:11My experience with the Umbrella Academy has been absolutely phenomenal. A dream come true.
00:16My experience with the show was one of change and evolution because I,
00:21you know, I played this character for, you know, I went in for a couple of days and then they kept
00:26on calling me back and it was just watching the character evolve was a delight.
00:31It was my first real big television job. I grew up on this show. I learned really how to act on
00:38the show. And I made a family on the show. It's meant everything and it's very, very sad to say
00:46goodbye.
00:47It's changed my life. Honestly, it's been one of the most beautiful experiences. It's
00:50seven years of my life. It feels very surreal that it's over. And I just feel very honored
00:55that I got this. I got to be a part of this.
00:58Really great. You know, I love these guys. I love every single one of them. Like, you know,
01:02they're my family. So to come and get to celebrate this together is epic, actually. Nothing short of.
01:08If you could wake up tomorrow with superpowers, which one would you want to have?
01:14Teleportation, so I can come here more often.
01:17This spot specifically?
01:18This spot specifically, because it's going to mean tons to me.
01:21Yeah.
01:22I say flying just because it seems so fun, but I think teleportation would probably be the most.
01:26Efficient.
01:27Yeah, I think I would. I would finally be on time if I could do that.
01:33Instantaneously wash and dry my clothes. Yeah, like, boom.
01:38I was thinking the same like fashion, like I was like, pick out my clothes,
01:41like wake up and it's just on.
01:43It's just folded right next to your bed.
01:45We did so good today.
01:46But this was an effort, right?
01:48The superpower question comes with good things and comes with bad things.
01:53So you don't want to fly because, you know, you get bugs stuck in your teeth and you don't want to,
01:57you know, you don't want to be like do telekinesis because
02:01that can just be, you know, tired after a while.
02:04With great power comes great responsibility.
02:06You have to have the responsibility. So maybe I'll pick a minor superpower,
02:11which is to always have the cold side of the pillow.
02:14What are you most excited? We're going to be with a live audience tonight reacting
02:18to the first episode. So what are you excited for everyone to kind of see tonight?
02:23When we all get back together. Yeah.
02:26I think that's when it's going to be, you know,
02:28hopefully someone doesn't throw a firework at the screen, you know?
02:32Yeah, the excitement, you know, metaphorically.
02:36It'll be me. Don't tell them.
02:38It is. Hopefully it is.
02:39It's been six years since the end of season three and kind of get introduced to each of
02:44the characters and where they're at. And then, boom, they're back together.
02:47And I think when the family's back, magic happens.
02:50Yeah. You know what?
02:52Although I can't say much, I know that everybody's going to be really pleased
02:55with what this season has to offer. It's going to answer so many fan questions.
03:00I am telling you, watch every bit, savor every bit because it's the finale.
03:06Yeah. What was your reaction to reading the
03:08scripts for this final season and get to read the script?
03:12The scripts are very secretive. And as a minor character or as like as a
03:18recurring character, I didn't get to read them.
03:22Watching the show is always the most fun because I had no idea which scenes I were,
03:27you know, what was helping and what was happening in the rest of the show.
03:30So it's delightful.
03:32I was overwhelmed, I think, as you're meant to be as someone reading the final
03:37episode of a show you've been working on for over four years by a long shot.
03:44Yeah, you never know when reading the scripts how it's going to turn out
03:48because making movies and television is such a collaborative art form.
03:53It's really no one person.
03:55The director or showrunner has like the most sort of control over how things go.
03:59But if a show is good, it is because of everyone.
04:02So you never know how it's going to turn out.
04:05I can say, though, that when I saw the final episode, it sent me into a state of gratitude
04:12and the sort of euphoric looking back at everything and happiness and sadness
04:18because it's change. I don't think anyone really likes change.
04:24You know, you feel a lot of things.
04:26You know, I wasn't surprised. Steve had already told us that
04:29it was going to end.
04:33So when I got the pages, I was just kind of hoping that it was a joke.
04:37I was kind of hoping that he was like, psych, here are the actual pages,
04:40because he gives us the last three pages pretty much the day before we shoot it.
04:45Yeah. But, you know, when we shot it, I just felt like closure,
04:49you know, at least for the storyline.
04:51For me, I don't even it doesn't feel like it's over yet.
04:54When do you think that will really set in?
04:57I think when Netflix comes out with the next show,
04:59then it'll be like, oh, man, everyone forgot about us.
05:01It's time to, you know, move on.
05:04So I'll be honest, I don't actually know a whole lot about season four.
05:07What I do know is where I came in, which is a really beautiful
05:12ending that I think honors the journey of everyone.
05:17And was there anything that was difficult to film this time around for this season?
05:21My striptease.
05:23Just emotionally, emotionally difficult.
05:26What do you think makes this series so special that it gets such a big fan reaction?
05:33I think humanizing superheroes.
05:35It's one of the first shows that did that for me.
05:37And I'm a big superhero movie fan.
05:40So I think the human aspect of the relationships and the dysfunction.
05:45I don't think it takes itself too seriously.
05:48I think family, I mean, even though it's superheroes,
05:51what's so beautiful about it is that it's not really about the power so much as it's about
05:54the struggle of being human, the struggle of embracing who you are, of owning who you are,
05:59of connecting with difficult family members, of letting go of control.
06:04They're all very human things that we struggle with day to day.
06:06So I think it's the humanity.
06:08First of all, I believe it stayed really close to the spirit of the comic book.
06:16And I think that I think they were really careful to
06:26really reproduce that and honor it.
06:29It was always amazing for me to go to set and see what they had built up in Toronto.
06:35Our Toronto crews worked so hard and so diligently
06:38to make every little detail perfect and watchable.
06:43And they were just as careful on the set as they were with the actors,
06:47as they were with the script.
06:48So I think it was the love and passion.
06:51What are you most upset to see after closing this chapter?
06:55What are you going to miss the most?
06:58I fell in love with Toronto, really.
07:00You know, that city.
07:02I love Canadians.
07:03They're really nice.
07:04I love our crew up there.
07:06They've been with us for six years.
07:07And again, this cast is like family.
07:09So I think just laughing on set every day.
07:12This is such a sad song for this interview.
07:16Like, come on.
07:18Yeah.
07:19Just all the laughs we had on set and just hanging out with each other outside of set.
07:24Yeah.
07:25The show is so much about family.
07:26And I know that the fans really feel the love.
07:28Do you have like a certain fan interaction that really sticks out from your journey here?
07:33There's been quite a few, really.
07:34Yeah, there's ones that have really connected to the show and ones that have like,
07:38I think there's been a couple that I've connected with when I've seen them that
07:42it was like a huge shift in their life where they were in, you know, in a bad place.
07:45And then the show brought them out of that.
07:47For me, that's always really special, you know.
07:50I think just being surprised by how well the show did and how passionate all of our fans are.
07:56Like we have a really emotionally invested core audience.
08:00So I think that's a beautiful thing.
08:03Do you have a message for them, you know, after closing this chapter?
08:08Honestly, it might get sort of lost in people thinking about the show or not,
08:13but it really is because of them that we get to do any of this.
08:18So the only words I thank you.
