00:00Two Japanese multinational pharmaceutical companies
00:03agreed to have a community-based awareness initiative on dengue disease.
00:10Officials from Takeda Healthcare Philippines Inc. and Utsuka Solar Philippines Inc.
00:17agreed to strengthen efforts to stop the spread of dengue in the country.
00:23The communities also agreed to strengthen their efforts
00:25through the Disease Education Awareness Campaign
00:28last November.
00:31More than 340,000 cases of dengue have been reported in the country,
00:37of which 881 have died.
00:41The Health Attaché of the Japanese Embassy in the Philippines,
00:46Dr. Fumiko Ayoki,
00:48hopes that the capacity of local government units
00:52will be strengthened to carry out the said efforts.
00:55I hope that increased awareness will lead to lasting behavioral change,
01:01improving habits and practices that directly impact dengue prevention.
