00:00Yes that's right so I studied at Melbourne University but I did a
00:04Bachelor of Arts with art history and philosophy and I did singing lessons and
00:09a few electives alongside but I didn't have an undergraduate music degree and I
00:14was actually working as an assistant producer on Classic FM with Christopher
00:17Lawrence and just sort of thinking that I would be maybe a journalist and I got
00:24an opportunity to go and sing Musetta in La Boheme in an Italian summer opera
00:29festival which was wonderful and the following year I was a young artist at
00:33the Salzburg Festival some of you may know Siobhan Stagg I went there to visit
00:37her and she said you know you should audition here and I was you know 22 and
00:42I said you gotta be kidding I've got no experience I don't even have a music
00:45degree and she said come on and she called the casting director and she said
00:48there's this fabulous young Australian soprano you've just got to hear her and they
00:53offered me the job on the spot and so the first orchestra I ever performed
00:58with professionally was the Vienna Philharmonic
01:01and it's been all downhill since then
