00:00The designations of the 2025 Hall of Fame class in pro football.
00:05Who will join those busts in Canton, Ohio, our smallest Hall of Fame class
00:11this year, Joe, in two decades since 2005.
00:16Here is the list.
00:17Eric Allen in his 19th year of eligibility.
00:21Jared Allen, fifth year of eligibility.
00:24Antonio Gates making it to the Hall of Fame in his second year on the
00:28ballot, and Sterling Sharp, a senior's candidate, gets into the 2025
00:34Hall of Fame class as well.
00:36Of course, many congratulations to each and every one of those individuals.
00:41Antonio Gates, he comes to mind always when you think of the great
00:45tight ends in the history of the National Football League, part of
00:49the revolution, if you will, of the tight end position.
00:52But Joe, it wasn't so much who made the Hall of Fame class for this
00:56year in 2025.
00:57It was a guy who was eligible for the first time.
01:01That did not, of course, Giants quarterback, Eli Manning, a famous
01:06name in the sport, maybe one of the most recognizable faces right now
01:10around the National Football League for what he has done following the
01:14end of his playing days.
01:16Eli Manning on the first ballot of his try of getting into Canton, not
01:21into the Hall of Fame just yet.
01:23You know, it's so funny, Ben, because we knew this was going to be
01:27interesting the minute he became eligible, right?
01:30The argument has been ranging on even for like the last five years of
01:34his career.
01:35If you just look at the regular season in his career, he never led
01:41the NFL in a single regular season quarterback passing category, Ben,
01:48except for interceptions.
01:49That's it.
01:50But when you look at what he did in the postseason, in the playoffs
01:54and in the in the Super Bowl, it's not even close, Ben.
01:59So you have to weigh that.
02:00All right, average during the regular season, but under the biggest
02:05lights, the biggest games, nobody, and I mean, absolutely, nobody has
02:10showed up like like he did on two teams, by the way, that had no chance,
02:16according to everyone, of winning anything, much less beating the one
02:20and only Tom Brady in the Patriots.
02:21So I, you know, it's a tough argument, but again, he's going to get in
02:28the idea that he didn't the first go around.
02:31Well, if you would have had a couple of better regular seasons, we
02:34wouldn't be having this conversation.
