FA Cup: Blackburn v Wolves - Liam Keen and Nathan Judah preview
Transcript
00:00Hello, I'm Nathan Judo, I'm here with Walter Portis, Mr. Liam Kinshard from VTOL Pereira.
00:14It's Sunday, it's FA Cup fourth round day, because I had a trip to Blackburn Rovers.
00:19Let's talk about the game first, let's talk about, obviously, deadline day, two new signings
00:23in there.
00:24What are we thinking about the potential of seeing both of them in action on Sunday?
00:29Obviously, until you see the team on Sunday, it's always difficult to predict, but I think
00:36you have to look at the amount of time they've trained.
00:40Manetti's had one day so far, Giga will be tomorrow, and how late they've arrived this
00:45week, and speaking to VTOL in there, I'd be surprised if they both start, or either of
00:51them start, to be honest.
00:52You may see one of them on the bench, potentially.
00:55It would be a good adaptation period, looking at playing against Bristol City in this first
00:59game.
01:00It would be a good opportunity for them.
01:01It may not quite line up for them to go out and play, so we'll see how the next few days
01:07go, and maybe you can see Manetti in midfield, but I would hedge my bets and say maybe him
01:10on the bench and Giga not involved, if I was a betting man, but otherwise, Pereira was
01:15pretty clear.
01:16I want to name a strong team, but with some changes to give players an opportunity, so
01:20probably pretty similar to the Bristol City game, where Wolves will be desperate to win
01:24the game and have some momentum going forward.
01:26I'm pretty pleased with the business that Wolves ended up doing in the end, in January.
01:30Yeah, look, he wanted a midfielder, he wanted another centre-back, on top of Agbedo, obviously,
01:34and that's exactly what he got.
01:36Forbes could have left, or would have left, had they been able to get a replacement, and
01:39that wasn't possible, and in the end, the manager got exactly what he wanted.
01:44He was happy, he said, with the work the club did, happy with giving the squad a bit more
01:47balance, a bit more physicality, and he's got options to choose from now.
01:51There's no excuse now, between now and May, for Forbes not to be attacking the Premier
01:55League, and FA Cup, hopefully, with everything they've got.
01:58And happy that Mateus Cunha's signed on the dotted line, and he's a player for a long,
02:02long time, but probably six months.
02:03Yes, yeah, look, he was pretty clear to say the player's committed, he's happy, he wants
02:08to be here, he wants to keep this team in the Premier League, which is everything we
02:11expect to hear.
02:13On top of that, it's obvious that there'll be a few clubs that will want to take him
02:17in the summer, and there's a release clause there, reportedly £62.5m that he'll get available,
02:23and I'd be surprised if he doesn't go pretty quickly once the window's open, to be honest.
02:26Yeah, we discussed that in length in the podcast this week, so obviously give that a listen
02:30if you haven't already.
02:32Mario Lamina, one who's gone, he's gone to Galatasaray, one that I think Vitor Brou is
02:36happy to get out in the end.
02:37Yeah, and I think Vitor actually phrased it pretty well, and sort of addressed it pretty
02:41well, in that he was open and honest to say, look, the player wanted to go.
02:44Christ!
02:45Jesus!
02:46The player wanted to go.
02:47Oh!
02:48That, I mean, try passing this way.
02:51It is freezing.
02:52I wonder what...
02:53It's going to snow today.
02:54Oh, man.
02:55I wonder what that audio's going to be like with that wind there.
02:58I'm afraid.
02:59Yeah, he was pretty open and honest to say that, look, the player wanted to go, and if
03:03he's not committed, he doesn't want to be here, I've wanted to go as well.
03:07He then was probably honest enough, but without being too honest, too open, by giving too
03:12much away and sort of disrespecting the player.
03:14But he did say, look, Lamina had his own reasons, he's happy at the club, I'm not going to go
03:18to the freezing, which we would love to know, but Vitor's position is probably about right,
03:23and the professional way to answer the question.
03:26And Wolves now can put this sort of period behind them, because they need to focus on
03:32two fronts, the FA Cup and the priority, which is staying in the Premier League.
03:36Let's go to what you think the team's going to be then on Sunday.
03:39Look, it's an important game, like I say, he went pretty strong against Bristol City,
03:43that was with Newcastle on the Wednesday night, so are we expecting to see the nucleus of
03:47maybe that team that faced Aston Villa?
03:49Yeah, I've gone for two changes, but I think he might make one or two more on top of that.
03:53I've gone for Rodrigo Gomez at right wing-back in place of Samedo, and Johnstone in place
03:57of Sarr in goal.
03:58I could see a world where we might see a Hwang come in, maybe, I don't know.
04:02A new dropout, maybe a midfield, you could see Giao Gomez come back in, maybe Manezzi,
04:06as we said.
04:07Doyle's an option, obviously, as well.
04:09So, I think two minimum changes probably is about right, but you may see him on top of
04:14that.
04:15Otherwise, I think he's going to go pretty strong, because he wants to win the game,
04:17he wants to continue the momentum, he's big on momentum.
04:20I think he's going to need it with the easy task of a trip downfield to the next.
04:24Yeah, 12.30 kick-off, Ewood Park, we shall be there on Sunday for all the build-up.
04:27On this one, make sure you log on to Express and Start.
