Blackburn 0 Wolves 2 - Liam Keen and Nathan Judah analysis
Transcript
00:00Hello, I'm Nathan Judah, I'm here with World Support, it is Mr. Liam Keane, the cherub,
00:14the apple of my eye. FA Cup action, Blackburn Rovers, Neil Poire, Wolverhampton Wanderers
00:202. It took a while to get into the game, I thought Blackburn had a couple of decent chances,
00:26one penalty shot that I don't think was, but at the same time I had the ball in the back
00:30of the net, I had to see that and set a piece in that offside goal again, but I think the
00:34goal calmed them down, didn't it, in 2 in 2 minutes and then it was plain sailing after
00:39that, wasn't it really? Yeah, it was absolutely freezing. It is, Baltic. The Blackburn fans
00:47obviously looked at the weather because they didn't turn up. I don't know why I did that,
00:52that was nasty really. Horrible, what happened to your ball? No, because I was leading on
00:54to say, fair play to the Wolves fans, they didn't make the journey, was it about 4 and
00:58a half? 4 and a half now. Because standing in that freezing, freezing cold. While Blackburn
01:02to be fair to them made probably a slightly better style of the Wolves, certainly in terms
01:06of chances at least. Wolves created, oh sorry, had a lot of the possession, but Blackburn
01:10created the chances. A little threatening bit of pace down the line. Yeah, yeah. Bueno
01:13unfortunately always had a bit of a touchy time, getting caught out quite a few times.
01:18As was Samaelo positioning wise? Yes, absolutely. They score a goal which is flagged offside,
01:22I think there's some suggestions that it might have been maybe a little bit tight, but obviously
01:28yeah. It would have definitely gone down to VAR if it was in use today for certain. Yeah,
01:32yeah, I think so. But Wolves get a break potentially, although we'll need to see if we play whether
01:37it is offside or not. And they take their opportunities, they're clinical. Jaume Gomez
01:41first, then followed by Kunya, they've both been in the space for a minute or so. Two
01:45good finishes, particularly the Kunya finish and the pass from Samaelo for that chance
01:48as well was fantastic. And Wolves were clinical and deserved to be in the lead and from there
01:54they created plenty of chances in that second half to score more, but were just unable to
01:59maybe find that last little final pass, just find the right ball. Maybe a few of their
02:06shots were a bit wayward, but overall very comfortable really. Blackburn didn't have
02:09a lot to offer at the second half. Yeah, a strong side really from them, obviously Samaelo,
02:12you've got Kunya playing the 90 minutes, Agbedu, Totti Gomez and a drop came on at
02:16half-time, but that's really their main starting back line, apart from Ryan Anoria who came
02:20on at the end. So definitely a strong side, fully deserved. And look, all of a sudden
02:24Wolves win the fifth round of the FA Cup. They are, and that barbeque is scooping closer
02:28for you, isn't it? If you listen to the pod, you'll know what I'm on about. Yeah, absolutely.
02:33Yeah, it was comfortable, wasn't it? Wolves got through, deserved to win, they are now
02:38into the fifth round, as you say, and look, as we saw last season, anything can happen.
02:43You get yourself a decent draw, or even if you don't, when you put a performance in,
02:46all of a sudden you find yourself in a quarter-final. Now, it's not a priority for Wolves at all,
02:51the FA Cup, the Premier League of course will be, but it's a great opportunity, it's a great
02:54competition and they deserved to win the game. So you move from there into hopefully a big
03:01tie, but obviously with the Premier League to come first and a big trip to Liverpool,
03:06which is coming up pretty shortly. And great to see Wolves' new centre-forward in Martial
03:10Neixer play, he could have had three or four goals. Defensive centre midfielder, he's all
03:14over the job. Loved it. He was playing a bit further forward, wasn't he, when he first
03:18came on, got himself a few chances, almost got the goal, as you say, and he was full
03:24of energy. Maybe the finishing wasn't quite there, but yeah, I thought he picked out a
03:29few nice passes, full of energy, big physical guy, dropped a bit deeper after that initial
03:34moment when he came on as well, but still with a bit of a licence to get forward, as
03:37Wolves have taken one of the forwards off as well. And yeah, it was a solid enough debut
03:43for him, I think he'll add something to this side. Do I think he'll start necessarily at
03:46Liverpool, I'm not sure, but I think he'll definitely add something to this team.
03:50Yeah, look, the most important thing, I think we were very happy with the day's work. This
03:54was a banana skin, this is a Blackburn sign, flying high, trying to get into the Premier
03:57League football again. At the same time, there'll be one disappointment today and we'll be discussing
04:02it afterwards, and that's why He-Chan, who came off injured at half-time, looked like
04:05it was his hamstring, and obviously he's got a bit of a track record of these type of injuries,
04:09and with Jürgen Strand-Larsen, touch and go, you'd say, for the Liverpool game, you
04:13don't want any more injuries to the forward line, and that could be a big blow.
04:17Yeah, he's obviously not been in form, has he? I mean, let's not dance around it, he's
04:20been pretty poor, but I thought he started okay in this game, I thought he did okay.
04:26He would have played a lot longer, of course, he wouldn't have come off at half-time, he
04:30looked destroyed, he looked really upset, he's had, as you say, hamstring issues in
04:33the past. It didn't look great. Now, we don't want to assume that it's going to be a long
04:38lay-off because we need to speak to Vitor Hui, I'm sure we'll give very little away
04:41now after the game, but we'll see. And of course, in the next few days, the picture
04:45will come a lot clearer. But at the very least, if he is available for Liverpool, he'll be
04:50got on squad. I think it looks likely that it'll be at least a couple of weeks, and any
04:53longer than that, it's going to be a blow. So as you say, a squad that's already out
04:56without Larsson, and he's a little bit light, maybe balance as well in that forward line,
05:01and he offers a versatile player that can play across that front line. So other players
05:05would have played ahead of him anyway, even if he was fit, but for him not to be available
05:09just limits the options that Pereira has in his arsenal.
05:12Who do you fancy in the next round?
05:14Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh. I don't even know what teams are left, I'm just focused on the Wolves
05:17winning games. Who cares? Wolves won two games in a row. I mean, there's a blue moon, there's
05:23some cows that jumped over it. Yeah, I don't know, what would you take? I mean, you would
05:28want to win that high one. I mean, I'm at Bristol end of the day. I've had two new stadiums
05:37there with the first two rounds, Wolves. Millwood would be a new stadium.
05:41Oh, really? You've been to any grounds?
05:43There's a lot, all the championship grounds I've been to, well, most of them, so I'll
05:46take that.
05:47Okay, I'll take that. Yeah, I think Millwood, well, I've got a sneaky suspicion, I don't
05:50know, someone, like, a bit boring, because they've only got coming up. I feel like they
05:53might get drawn against Bournemouth or someone.
05:54I was just about to say, oh, like a Fulham, there's a Fulham uprooted in there. Oh, God,
05:57please no. It's actually not a way. I don't need that.
06:00Don't want Newcastle away either, really, again. It's cold here today, can you imagine
06:03Newcastle?
06:04Food's good there.
