00:00We now go live to Ecuador with our special envoy, Jorge Gestoso, for all the details on everything that has happened during the day
00:07just hours before polls open in Ecuador. Hello, Gestoso. Welcome again to From the South.
00:18Luis, at this hour, still the main concern is a
00:23denunciation of the presidential candidate, Luisa González, that she posted in the social media
00:31that are concerns that they're establishing,
00:34supposedly, allegedly,
00:37establishing a parallel recount of votes and the armed forces
00:43could or should be involved in that denunciation.
00:47How they think that it might work,
00:51it might work in a way that the telling of the votes
00:56will go first
00:58to that armed forces
01:01computer system parallel to the official voting of the CME, the
01:07National Electoral Council, and afterwards the
01:12Electoral Council, the official, will
01:14report the votes. That has been denounced by Luisa González, the candidate, the
01:22main opposition candidate, as
01:26inconstitutional, very worrisome, and
01:28absolutely an aberration to
01:32democratic process. We were talking to some analysts before and
01:38analysts were mentioning that
01:40there has been, in the past, some concerns about the
01:45existence of a parallel
01:48computer system to the official voting, but we're not at that point involving the armed forces, so
01:57there's still a big question mark if that could be true, if that could be taking place,
02:04if that will be taking place, in which way it's going to be
02:08processed. The issue here is that this very moment, Luis, this is the subject,
02:14this is the talk of the town. Again, the
02:18procedure is tomorrow, the polls are opening early in the morning, by five o'clock they will be closing, and
02:25according to the president of the Electoral National Council,
02:30the first
02:33trend of the voting is going to be announced around 90 minutes later, around
02:406.30 in the evening, so we are following
02:45very, very closely everything that's going on from here to the end of the journey tomorrow. Luis.
