00:00Finally, let's get to my favorite story of the day, which is sports betting in Deadwood,
00:06South Dakota.
00:07Now, Deadwood, one of my favorite shows of all time on HBO.
00:11So like I picture people walking into these saloons, you know, betting on sports for people
00:16who don't know it's the only place that you can legally bet in the state is Deadwood.
00:21But there's a chance that this could potentially expand.
00:24I don't know the magnitude of sports betting in this state.
00:28I don't get a lot of numbers from you guys for support on this state.
00:33But again, it's a cool story and really cool city to that still exists.
00:36No, it's fun.
00:37To your point, I mean, it's kind of like Wyoming, you know, it doesn't really move the needle
00:41as a full blown market for sports books, probably not a ton.
00:46But yeah, in 2020, voters in South Dakota decided to legalize sports, sports betting.
00:50Great.
00:51Well, the legislator came back and said, No, you can only do it in Deadwood at casino properties
00:56in Deadwood.
00:58You know, that makes sense.
00:59That's what this constitution says in 2022.
01:01They tried to put it to the vote again of, hey, do you want sports betting statewide?
01:08But that didn't pass the legislator because there's just they said that's Deadwood.
01:12That's where the gambling is.
01:14Now they're trying it again.
01:16It would go to the voters.
01:17Interestingly, it's kind of the same thing you hear with the tribal stuff in Florida.
01:22You got to be on the server has to be on property in Deadwood to go statewide.
01:29Interesting kind of caveat there that you do see in a lot of other states, too.
01:35But yeah, I mean, it's a fun story, I think, just because of the Deadwood concept and everything
01:40like that doesn't move the needle.
01:41Probably not.
01:42But still something we'll be tracking just because, again, it is a potential statewide
01:46expansion, which is, you know, still news.
