00:00How's the, I guess, when you guys are talking about wanting to get Tom the record.
00:04Is that still something that goes through the locker room?
00:06Cuz he's down plays it and all that, but
00:07how do you know you tied it going into tomorrow night against some of the other
00:10teams to get it?
00:12Yeah, for sure, I mean, he's gonna downplay it regardless.
00:14That's kind of the guy he is.
00:16So we kind of have made a little pact over there.
00:21So it means something to us.
00:22It means a lot to us and to the coaches.
00:24So we just try to, we definitely are thinking about it, but
00:27we still want to go out there and win the game, do what we need to do.
00:30So, yeah, we definitely think about it, though.
00:33Cole, you showed a lot of emotion for your roommate.
00:35You picked him up off the ground to celebrate.
00:37I know he's your teammate, but talk about your relationship with Jason,
00:40seeing him have a great night the other night with that man.
00:43I mean, you can kind of see what he's done in the summer,
00:45what he's done so far this year.
00:47You had that big game like that, and especially at the time that he had it,
00:52we was down, we was down.
00:53Everybody, I feel like a lot of people thought we was gonna come back and
00:56win that game.
00:56But yeah, just from the head of that game, it was a real big moment for me.
01:00He's my roommate, so I see him every day.
01:04I see the work he put in.
01:05I see what he's been doing.
01:06So that was a great moment for sure.
01:08I think we'll keep going.
01:09Strength in numbers has been the guys' thing all year.
01:11You guys are, your numbers are a little down on Saturday, and
01:13you guys still find a way to come back.
01:15What are sort of the takeaways from that game when you're,
01:18that 10-man rotation is different a little bit?
01:20Well, just the fight we had, to be down two players.
01:24When you're not playing, and two players are not playing,
01:27like booking fears, it's kind of, your team takes a big hit.
01:31So we just, the fact that we were able to bear down,
01:34especially with that bad first half, bear down and be able to come back and
01:37get a win, it showed a lot.
01:40It showed what this team can do, especially being down those players, so
01:44yeah.
01:45Colin, I'm curious, when we hear a lot of photo of them,
01:49you and I talking about Bob Knight, there's a lot of reverence,
01:52a lot of respect behind it.
01:53Do you feel like Tom has that with folks in our age bracket,
01:57that sort of legend, that sort of respect?
01:59Yeah, for sure, I definitely think so.
02:01I feel like you can ask most people in the country, and
02:05they're gonna know who Tom is over there.
02:06So yeah, I definitely feel like he definitely gets that same respect around
02:10the country and around the world, for sure.
02:15This final stretch here, the back half of the schedule,
02:19I guess, how you guys focused on this?
02:21And when you got back from LA,
02:23what were the conversations like about that trip and moving forward?
02:29Yeah, well, kind of the biggest thing for us was turnovers.
02:33We gotta take care of the ball, we didn't do a good job of that.
02:36When you, I feel like, especially against UCLA,
02:39we felt like we played good defense.
02:40We held them a lot under average at home, but we got 16 turnovers.
02:45It's not really too many games you're gonna win doing that.
02:47So that was a big thing.
02:49And just to take it one game at a time, we know this is the hardest.
02:53We feel like, we definitely know it's the hardest part of our schedule.
02:55So we just gotta take it one game at a time and just do whatever it takes to win.
03:00It's that time to, well, every game matters.
03:04We got eight games left, so every one matters.
03:07Okay, you were born in 2004, so
03:09did you know who Bob Knight was, something like that?
03:13Yeah, yeah, yeah, my dad told me stuff about him and I throwing chairs.
03:19Doing stuff like that, everybody kind of know that.
03:22So yeah, I kind of knew, I knew a little bit.
03:25My family definitely, dad especially, definitely told me a lot of it before,
03:29so yeah.
03:34Cole, we know it's season time, you're locked into your team.
03:37What's been your little getaway that you have, even during the season,
03:40when you have a few moments for yourself?
03:42What do you try to like to do to kind of reach back?
03:46Well, me and Jace have a little Lego collection going.
03:49So we've been doing that, building that.
03:51We got a good look.
03:53Is it a city, what is it actually?
03:56No, it's like we got, make characters.
03:59I made a Star Wars Millennium Falcon, I made that.
04:03A couple Avengers, got the Thanos gauntlet, Jace made that.
04:09Jace made a car, a big car, whatever.
04:11So yeah, we kind of do that.
04:13Or we just kind of the team, we've been bowling, we've been go-karting,
04:19we've been a few different things.
04:20So we just try to hang out as we can.
04:21We might watch a basketball game together, watch a Big Ten game,
04:24watch Super Bowl the other day, I mean yesterday.
04:26So just kind of do things like that, keep the morale up,
04:28keep our chemistry up for sure.
04:30Awesome, awesome, thank you.
04:31Down low, Jack.
04:33When you say you know what tomorrow means for a coach and for the team,
04:37what does it mean to you to know your coach has been in the same place 42 years,
04:42twice as long as you've been alive, and in 30 years has never had a losing season?
04:46Man, stuff like that is the reason why you come here, especially for me.
04:50I feel like college basketball is kind of crazy, especially with the coaches.
04:55You might have three different coaches in four years, so you never know.
04:59So just him having the stability, knowing he's gonna be here,
05:02he's gonna be here forever.
05:03So just knowing that, that definitely played a big part in why I came here.
05:06So yeah, I just feel like to have a coach like that is special.
05:10Second row, Brooksie.
05:11Cole, what do you, I'm not satisfied, might not be the wrong word,
05:14because it sort of indicates like it's done.
05:16But what do you like about how you've grown in the season,
05:18from game one to where we are right now so far?
05:21I mean, I like it.
05:22I feel like I've been kind of trying to improve every game,
05:26every practice, just trying to get better.
05:27I feel like I worked on my shot, my free throws.
05:29I feel like that's been a big change in my game from the line.
05:33I feel like I'm shooting way more confident, way better from the line.
05:36So just trying to keep improving my, the little things,
05:40knowing that I'm never, trying to never be satisfied,
05:42knowing that there's always things to improve on throughout the season.
05:45Second row, Con.
05:47That burst you guys had in the first half where you took the lead early,
05:51that happened when Carson Cooper came in.
05:52I'm curious, the calming effect that he can bring off the bench.
05:56What do you see there?
05:57Yeah, Coop definitely brings a lot, especially on the defensive side.
06:01We feel like maybe if a big is kind of getting what he want down there or
06:07getting us a challenge, we bring him in.
06:09I feel like he locks him down.
06:10So he's definitely a great rebounder and a great defender for us.
06:13So that's definitely, he brings a lot in that aspect of the game for sure.
06:17One last one.
06:18Were you able to learn anything from the 2000 National Championship team this
06:21past weekend?
06:22Did you have a chance to talk to any of them as well?
06:23Yeah, yeah, we kind of, they always come back.
06:26So we kind of always, we always, we've been talking on the team,
06:30definitely always said stuff to us.
06:32Try to, just try to let us know that it's not gonna be easy.
06:35That's gonna be hard.
06:36It's a gauntlet for real.
06:38So just, he kind of try to keep us on that to never be satisfied,
06:42never get comfortable.
06:43So always, always want more and always work for sure.
06:45Mm-hm.
06:47Anything else, guys?
06:48Thanks, Coop.
