00:00You can probably do a movie but there's this thing called the network wars in the Philippines
00:15unfortunately for all artists.
00:17It's a double edged sword.
00:19Well we're really lucky that we still get to do shows like this.
00:23We can really travel around and do concerts.
00:26I just love guessing because more than anything I only sing about 3-5 songs or less.
00:32And it's just more of the quality time I have with my mom.
00:35And also getting to know like while she's resting I'm there exploring the place.
00:39Oh she loves Dubai.
00:41She fell in love with Dubai a couple of months ago.
00:44She came on her own.
00:45In terms of working with my mom I think that it's only been in the last couple of years
00:50that I've really sort of gained that momentum as an actress
00:53and as somebody that people can actually watch and kind of take seriously in acting
01:01and in the entertainment industry.
01:03I started out as a VJ and then with musical theater for Disney.
01:08So it's only now that I'm really getting to do such different roles.
01:12And also roles that maybe my mom never really tackled in her, like when she was in her 20s.
01:19Di pa uso.
01:20And also now, up to now.
01:22So in a way that really works for us because she has her own niche and I have my own niche.
01:27You can't compare it at all.
01:31She's the megastar.
01:32She is who she is.
01:34She has almost 40 years really under her belt.
01:39And it's just really a lot of comparison just because we're blood and I'm her daughter.
01:46But I don't think it should even be an issue.
01:49Each of us is unique.
01:50And it's my generation, it's her generation.
01:52They're two separate generations too.
01:54Having been born into a showbiz family, it helped open doors.
01:58I suppose, you can't say no.
02:00But once the doors were opened, she really worked so hard to get where she is now
02:06without any help from us.
02:07So we're proud of that.
02:08She made me sink or swim.
02:10So I feel like in a way, I think maybe that I've sort of shown her through the years
02:17that, Mom, it's okay.
02:19She hasn't given me any major problems.
02:22Yeah, I tell her, look around.
02:25A lot of people in their 20s.
02:27I'm glad this is my daughter.
02:29That means a lot.
02:32It means a lot hearing that from her.
02:34Because, of course, I was her kid for maybe 16 years before my sister came along.
02:45She thinks that the little mistakes are really big.
02:49I sort of have to remind her all the time that there's a lot of people my age
02:53or in their 20s also who really are a lot worse than me.
02:58So I think that we're okay.
03:00Not at all like you.
03:04Slowly but surely, I think that earning your parents' trust
03:08and in a way, earning your parents' respect as an adult
03:11really means you have to continue just being yourself as time goes by
03:18and just really trying to accomplish things that might make them proud.
03:23I always tell her, I really just want you to be happy seeing how I live my life
03:28and seeing my accomplishments.
03:30All of this really came from you.
03:32I wouldn't be in the world without you, but no one's perfect.
03:36But I think that's one thing that I'm really happy about.
03:39That as time goes by, as mother and daughter,
03:41we really have that sort of growing relationship.
