00:00More than 400 families or almost 2,000 individuals were affected by the shear line in Mimaropa.
00:07This is the details of Rod Laguzan's report.
00:12Authorities are continuing the rescue operation in a van that was hit by a flood in Palawan in August.
00:19According to the Office of the Civil Defense, three people were still being buried while two were missing.
00:25Apparently, there was a van that still tried to traverse the flooded area.
00:31Unfortunately, yesterday, the flooding was still strong in August.
00:36According to the OCD, 427 families or 1,906 individuals were affected by the shear line in Mimaropa
00:45while more than 300 families are still remaining in evacuation centers.
00:50The OCD continues to coordinate with the Department of Social Welfare and Development in distributing assistance to the affected.
00:57While the rain stopped, we are taking advantage of that.
01:02We're deploying our rescue vehicles and equipment that includes our rubber boats and our lifted vehicles to conduct rescue operations.
01:13The rainfall in Palawan reached 352 mm, the highest since 1975, away from the average rainfall of 30 mm.
01:23In addition, rescue operations are continuing for residents affected by the flood.
01:27Residents with medical conditions such as bedridden and others are also being evacuated.
01:32According to the OCD, the water level in the flooded areas is dropping.
01:36On the other hand, there is hope that the weather in Mindoro and Palawan will improve due to the effect of the shear line.
01:44Maybe it's a big factor. Aside from the shear line that is affecting Palawan and Mindoro,
01:51there are also cloud clusters west of the Philippine area of responsibility.
01:57Somehow, it also has an effect on Palawan.
02:01It will be moved away from the country because it will not be affected anymore.
02:04The presence of cloud clusters is affecting the frequent occurrence of the shear line.
02:10According to the description of our climatologist, the first one was a cloud cluster-like condition from last quarter of last year.
02:20But this year, from January to March, we already had an advisory.
02:26The possibility of experiencing a shear line flood is not out of expectation.
02:31Parts of Quezon, Aurora, Isabela, Camarines Norte and other parts of Bicol and Eastern Visayas will be affected.
02:39Rod Laguzad for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
