00:12Expo 2020 by a massive margin, beating Russia's Ekaterinburg in the third and final round
00:18of voting in Paris. Dubai got 116 votes for the bid, or 70% of the total tally, as opposed
00:25to Russia's 47 votes. The UAE delegation at the headquarters of
00:29BIE, led by Sheikh Ahmad bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation, Chairman
00:35and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, and the Chairman of the Dubai Expo
00:392020 Organising Committee erupted in joy and celebration moments after the result was announced.
00:47The high-level UAE delegation in Paris was joined by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan,
00:52UAE Foreign Minister. Massive crowds that had gathered in major
00:55shopping malls and public places across Dubai also broke out into jubilation and wild cheer.
01:01A major display of fireworks was held at Burj Khalifa to celebrate the win.
01:06Earlier, Dubai sailed through the first round with a total of 77 votes, while Russia came
01:11in second with 39 votes and Turkey got 33 votes.
01:16Sao Paulo was eliminated in the first round with 13 votes.
01:19In the second round, Dubai improved its tally to 87 votes, while Ekaterinburg got 41 votes
01:25and Turkey went out of the competition with 36 votes.
01:30During the UAE's final presentation at the Bureau International d'Exposition, the Paris-based
01:35intergovernmental body that has organised the fair since 1928, UAE Minister of State
01:41Reem Al Hashmi highlighted Dubai's case for hosting the Expo.

01:50would be. We explored ideas and thoughts and then we
