00:00Well, being that I do DJ, I had to be able to cater to the dance floor, you know, a lot
00:06of my tracks are reminiscent of the black IP vibe and of course the sound, but I also
00:17added a little Latin twist because I am Mexican, so I wanted to be able to create songs that
00:22speak to not only the people around the world, but also to my Latin community, my Spanish
00:28speaking people, and, you know, I got people like Alex Gaudino producing some of the tracks,
00:34Juan Magan did some stuff on it, and Mario Marchetti did a song, and, you know, I'm just
00:41excited to be able to show the world what I'm coming with as an individual, and I'm
00:46excited to be able to connect with my roots, to let people know how important it is for
00:52me to speak to my community.
00:55I haven't had the chance to give back because I've been so caught up with the P's and we've
01:00been doing wonderful things, like I said, so now it's time for me to slow it down and
01:04give back to the people that speak my language, and that's my Spanish speaking people and
01:10people all over the world.
01:11March 27, 2007 was my epiphany, actually I wrote a book called Falling Up, which tells
01:18the story of how it went down and what it took for me to really make that change in
01:25my life, because I was going down the wrong path, as so many artists do, we get caught
01:30up in our own hype, and I was really caught up, and thank God that I got arrested that
01:36day, that day was the turning point for me, the next day, the 28th, was probably like
01:41the most miserable moment of my life because it was such a guilty day for me, feeling what
01:48I had done, like really knowing what I had done the night before, and I just changed
01:54my whole life around.
01:55The first year was pretty hard for me, but after a while, it got easier, and thank goodness
01:59that I've been able to stay sober for five years, and I'm going to continue doing it,
02:04I'm strong-willed, and I have a great life ahead of me, and a great future, and I'm grateful
02:10that I was able to overcome those trials and tribulations.
02:13The message is believe you can achieve, dream big, that's what my grandmother always said
02:19to me, my grandmother was the biggest inspiration, and I felt like when I got arrested, if my
02:26grandmother was alive, she would have been really disappointed, and that was a person
02:29that I never wanted to let down.
02:31So I feel that if you are struggling with any addictions or things that may be getting
02:39in the way of your progress, just know that there is hope, there's inspiration, you can
02:46overcome anything, anything is possible, so, you know, God be with you, and hopefully
02:54you overcome, because I was a prime example of someone who hit rock bottom and was able
02:58to bounce back.
