00:00Pearls come from nature and every single one is unique and has its own personality, just
00:12like a customer.
00:13So I would encourage customers to try lots of different sizes and shapes and colours
00:17to really find the pearl that makes them feel great.
00:20All you really need to know are about the five basic virtues to identify a good quality
00:25pearl.
00:26First is the first virtue and it's definitely the most important virtue in making a pearl
00:30beautiful.
00:33Second most important virtue is complexion.
00:36Complexion is the surface of the pearl.
00:38We look at how perfect the surface of the pearl is and how free it is of any blemishes.
00:45The third virtue is size.
00:48Large pearls generally are rarer and more valuable.
00:51Anything 15 millimetres or over is considered very rare and very, very valuable.
00:56The fourth virtue is shape.
00:59We recognise around seven or eight different shapes and these include very classic traditional
01:04shapes such as round or oval or drop and then we have more unusual shapes like baroque or
01:09circle.
01:10The great thing is that it's really up to your personal taste and preference which shape
01:13suits you and your personality.
01:17The last virtue is colour.
01:19Like shape, colour is very much up to one's personal preference and skin toning.
01:23At Paspale we do South Sea Pearls which generally are white pearls with subtle overtonings of
01:28pink or silver or cream or gold.
01:31There are other colours of pearl in the marketplace such as black and freshwater pearls but these
01:37pearls come from different types of oysters.
