00:00Traditional Arabic sweets come to life during Ramadan, and treats such as Ata'eef Mamoul
00:10and UAE Date Sweets become available.
00:13In Ramadan, people eat lots of sweets, and usually they eat Arabic sweets more than the
00:21Western sweets.
00:23They give them more energy.
00:24Some people, when they are fasting from morning till evening, they feel weak and dizzy.
00:31So when they have a little sweet, they feel they have back energy in their body.
00:36And for Sahar, fresh dates are an integral part of the sweet-making process.
00:40The Emirati sweet, it's a very, very healthy sweet, actually.
00:45The most important, it's made of dates.
00:49And usually here in our shop, we use the Khlas dates from UAE.
00:53The dates are formed into a paste, which are then arranged into various shapes such
00:57as cubes and flowers.
00:58Several ingredients are then added to enhance flavor and appearance before they are laid
01:02out for final presentation.
01:04I make it in a modern way, different size and different shape.
01:09That makes people, when they see it, that they want to try it.
01:13We don't use any additives or any preservatives in it.
01:16So if you're looking for an energy boost this summer, maybe try snacking on these traditional
01:20sweets as a healthier way to satisfy your sweet tooth.
