00:21around the world came together to serenade the Zouk on World Music Day.
00:52Fête de la Musique started in France in 1981, when Mr. François Mitterrand was elected president.
00:58He decided to have a party every year, along with his Ministry of Culture, Mr. Jack Long.
01:03Big party on the longest day of the year, 21st of June, first day of summer.
01:08Every musician goes in the street, everybody with instruments, singing, everybody goes in the street.
01:14It's free, it's free for the musicians to play, it's free for the public to enjoy,
01:19that's the idea of this World Music Day.
01:22So it takes place now all over the world, and in Dubai we have been doing it for more than 10 years,
01:28and especially here in Zouk Madinat Jumeirah for 8 consecutive years.
01:33Why do we do it here? Just because it's a beautiful place.
01:37We cannot do it outside because it's too warm, so inside here it looks like a little village in France.
01:43Well, not in France, but you know, a little village, let's say.
01:46And so it's very nice, we have musicians all over the Zouk, and it's a very nice atmosphere.
02:00Musicians are coming from so many countries, from Europe, from the Middle East, from the Philippines,
02:08I would say between 15 and 20 countries, because we have more than 50 musicians.
02:13A good number come from France, but not all of them come from France.
02:17Usually the format remains the same because, as we mentioned, it's very successful, people enjoy it,
02:22so there is no reason why we could change it.
02:25The only thing is that more musicians can come, if they want to join, they will be welcome.
02:30Just they have to tell us about two months before, so that we can organize, make a setting, a plan, and so on.
