00:00As we exercise social distancing so that we can stem the outbreak of coronavirus,
00:05many of us are strapped at home. You have a lot of time on your hands and we are of the opinion
00:11that you must catch up on all the Indian web shows that you've not been able to perhaps watch
00:17because of lack of time. Now that you're at home, here is a list of few of the shows which I think
00:23you must catch up on and perhaps update yourself.
00:27It's picked randomly and it's not in an order of preference but firstly I think if you have the
00:32time you must catch up on little things. Now the reason why I like this show so much is because
00:38it's a very very comforting drama, relationship drama. It adopts a very Watson Mole approach to
00:45a young couple who are living together in Mumbai and their everyday existence. I mean if you
00:52remember the Before Sunrise series, it's very conversational. Here too there's Mitali Parker
00:57and there's Dhruv Sehgal who play this couple, Kavya and Dhruv, you know who seem very real.
01:04Their relationship problems, perhaps the highs and the lows is very relatable. There's no
01:10over sentimentality and it's not soppy. I mean there's not unnecessary melodrama. The acting is
01:16splendid too, both Mitali and Dhruv. They're so young and they are the poster child of the young
01:21generation now. Perhaps if you are in a relationship or you were in one when you're in
01:26your 20s, you will identify with the highs and lows of this couple. So put a ring on this one,
01:32you won't regret it. The second on my list is the glossy series Made in Heaven. It is streaming on
01:37Amazon Prime and one of the reasons why I love the first season is because it's one of those
01:43most good looking and beautiful series that I've seen. I mean the wardrobe of Shobita Dulipala who
01:49plays Tara Khanna, a wedding planner who arranges marriages for the elite and the privileged of
01:57Delhi is just beautiful. I mean trust me you'll want to raid the wardrobe of Shobita after watching
02:04this series. The next on my list is the season one of Netflix's Sacred Games. It's the digital
02:10debut of Saif Ali Khan. He plays the Sardar Cop who's down on his luck but then gangster Ganesh
02:16Gaithonde who's played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui calls him one night before killing himself saying
02:22that Mumbai is under siege and only you can save him. It plays out like this very riveting,
02:26nail-biting thriller. It's not often that you see a web series with such high production values.
02:31The next on my list is Mental Hood that streams on Zee5. It's a tale of sisterhood between a
02:38is a tale of sisterhood and how a bunch of mothers navigate the stretcherous terrain
02:44of parenting. Their kids go to the same school in South Mumbai. They're quite privileged but
02:49it also talks about domestic abuse, unhappy relationships and mums being overwhelmed by guilt.
02:55These guys have done a fabulous job of constructing a tale about sisterhood and perhaps shared pain.
03:02So do watch it and let me know how you feel. It's streaming on Zee5. The last one on my list
03:07is The Family Man played brilliantly by Manoj Bajpai. It's streaming on Amazon Prime. Now here
03:14is a police officer who is a part of a special anti-terrorism cell. He's no super spy. He has
03:20no fancy gadgets. He has no fancy cars at his disposal. What he has is this uniform. He's just
03:26a plain clothed person who tries to save his city from grave terrorism threats. The best part about
03:33this is that this movie also gives you a peek into how difficult it is for the men in uniform to
03:40lead normal lives. His family for instance has no clue that he puts his life in danger every day.
03:46They are unaware of the risks and the occupational hazards he has to do but it also gives you an
03:51insight into the kind of risks that they undertake on a daily basis. This is just our top five but
03:56there's an exhaustive list of TV shows that you can binge watch and that are totally binge worthy
04:02but you have to go to gulfnews.com to read the whole list and of course go to our Instagram of
04:07Gulf News to find out what we think of these series as well. Do let me know what you think of it and
04:13give in your feedback.
