00:00I think the biggest challenge for parents today is to raise their children that when
00:09they grow up they are good people, that they are not addicted to drugs, that they are not
00:19thieves or robbers or murderers, and to make sure that they do go out in the world as good
00:24people.
00:25Building the trust between parents and children and being updated with all the changes that
00:32are happening nowadays, for me it's the biggest challenge.
00:36Many parents, they just, like parents raise their children perfectly well.
00:41They have big knowledge, they have high degrees, and you know, they know everything, everything
00:46inside out about children, like education, everything.
00:50But then, when they just get them into schools, they have like friends, you never know that
00:55friend is going to be, is he lucky enough to have good friends or not.
01:00So basically I can say this is the, I can call it like challenge and fear, actually.
01:06Because that one friend, you never know what path he's going to take him to it, you know.
01:10The most important thing is how do we keep our kids bonded to us and yet grounded to
01:15reality, you know.
01:18What I feel is everybody is in a mad rush, you know.
01:20Generally both the parents are working and, you know, earning for the livelihood.
01:25But what we fall back upon is we lose out on the time, the quality time which a child
01:29can get.
01:31And that is where, you know, we feel guilty, we start bombarding them with things and,
01:35you know, gadgets and all that, we start giving them their freedom and we feel that, oh, it's
01:39a high-tech age, oh, let them go and live their own life, give them that space.
01:44That's the time when we are, you know, misguiding them.
01:48Parents need to give a great deal of time, patience and, you know, give them that kind
01:55of emotional anchorage which they look for these days.
01:58With today's many influences at schools, at home, on TV, in the media, it is difficult
02:07for parents to make sure that their children come out right.
02:11To raise a child, you don't know the outcome until after 20 years, so it is a difficult
02:15process.
02:16So that would be really one of the main challenges and I just hope that whatever I do today for
02:21my child in the future will make him into a good person.
