00:00Football is a funny game. Sunderland went from the high of beating Middlesbrough away from home to the frustration of drawing at home to Watford in less than a week.
00:10Inconsistency at this stage of the season is not what Regis Labrisse's side needs when trying to remain in the battle for automatic promotion from the Championship.
00:18With Luton Town the next opponent for the Black Cats, Sunderland will not want to experience any more of the frustration they felt against Watford.
00:26Regis Labrisse will have to make sure his side are less complacent on this occasion but also use the elation they had from drawing level late on against the Hornets.
00:36Labrisse revealed what his message to his players was after mixed emotions that came from the draw with Watford on Saturday.
00:45So we had many conversations before because we didn't finish properly the game. Sometimes we didn't start properly the game.
00:53We were good in these two parts against Watford but the first half was a little bit strange because I think first of all to be fair Watford were good.
01:04And we have to accept that a team even at home can play good football and they were good and with good qualities, with individualities, with power, with the ability to dribble like with many players.
01:17So we have to accept that but at home I think because we are still a young team when we struggle to press the opponent probably we lost our patience and we disorganised our system, our structure just by this frustration.
01:35Sunderland do remain unbeaten at home in the Championship so far this season though, despite not winning at the weekend, which has taken much resolve from their young team.
01:46It shows our good qualities and our consistency so it's exactly the opposite of what I said just before. So in the proportion I think we were very good so far.
01:58At the same time we want to play, we want to win more games so I think it's good for the mentality of the team.
02:06Labrisse then outlined how his coaching style has evolved to suit the Championship and approach challenges such as this.
02:14It's always an evolution I think because I'm learning as well. I'm learning and I want to learn with the players.
02:21So different experiences, different staff because we started with new staff, now we have a different set-up.
02:31So it's a new experience and I like these new experiences and I think I'm learning from the beginning until now and I hope it will be the case until the end of the season.
02:42The connection is very good so I really enjoyed the connection with these players because they want to understand the game,
02:50they want to play together, they want to solve problems in real time and this is what I like. So it's really a good period for me.
