00:00A very good evening from Celtic Park. It's quite lively here as many people get ready
00:06for a huge Champions League clash tomorrow night between Celtic and Bayern Munich. It's
00:12match day one and we've just had the pre-match press conference from Celtic manager Brendan
00:17Rodgers speaking about his side's chances and ambitions against the Bundesliga leaders.
00:23Of course Bayern Munich are one of the biggest teams in Europe and one of the favourites
00:27to win this competition. Rodgers called them football royalty ahead of the clash and says
00:33that the goal for Celtic is to go to Bavaria next week still in with a chance in this two-legged
00:39tie. Of course Celtic are playing knockout football in the top tier of European elite
00:44football for the first time in 12 years. That was when they took on Juventus and they lost
00:49in the last 16 of the Champions League. The tournament has now revamped which has given
00:53Celtic a better chance of getting beyond the main phase and they took that really well
00:58with some big victories. One of those was against RB Leipzig and Rodgers was at pains
01:03to point out how important it will be to replicate such a strong performance when another German
01:09side comes to town. Bayern are just arriving as we speak. Harry Kane the England captain
01:15is among one of their many star players. You could look at their forward line and there
01:20are so many good players. Jamal Musiala for example who of course tortured Scotland at
01:25the Euros. French starlet Kingsley Coman, the experienced Thomas Muller. Michael Alissie
01:30former Crystal Palace player also doing really well at Bayern. They have so many threats
01:35and Rodgers knows how difficult a game it's going to be. However he was in pretty cheery
01:40spirits when he spoke to the media a couple of hours ago. Not least because Dejan Maida
01:44is back in the squad. We all thought Maida would be suspended and to be honest I think
01:48Rodgers thought so too. Giving a two game ban for a red card against Young Boys last
01:52month but an appeal to UEFA was deemed successful late on Monday evening down to the fact that
01:58the report said that Maida had committed an assault on a Young Boys player. It was hardly
02:03that. A kick at Mohamed Ali Kamra and Celtic on those grounds appealed and Maida who scored
02:0820 goals this season is now available. That's a huge boost for Celtic. Kamran Carter-Vickers
02:13also passed fit after he missed out at the weekend. He'll be tasked with marking Harry
02:17Kane, his former team-mate at Tottenham Hotspur. Lots of storylines ahead of Celtic against
02:23Bayern Munich. It's going to be a fantastic occasion here at Parkhead. You can imagine
02:27the place will be rocking a typical Celtic Park night under the lights. The reality is
02:32Celtic will do well to progress in this tie. Bayern are warm favourites to make the last
02:3816 but that won't dull the enthusiasm when these two teams meet here in over 24 hours
02:43time. We'll have it all on Scotsman.com and in the paper.
