00:00Day 4 here at Dubai International Film Festival and we're halfway through. 37 films are being
00:14showcased. Today at the beach opposite JBR we have the screening of Jaws by the man himself
00:19Richard Dreyfuss who spoke of his fears of how the movie will be received here in Dubai.
00:24I would have a fear that in watching this film people think of it as antique. And the
00:33fact is this is the only film I'm aware of in all of Hollywood history that is as effective
00:4140 years after than it was on the day it was first released. It is a brilliant, brilliant
00:52act of filmmaking. And you are as astoundingly frightened as if you've never ever seen or heard
01:02of it. We caught up with actor Dev Patel from the film The Man Who Knew Infinity. He spoke to
01:07us about his character, an Indian mathematician based on a true story set in the 20th century.
01:12If it's too easy for me then I worry about that because if it's easy for me I know it
01:17won't challenge an audience or inspire them. So if you look at Slumdog or Chappie or Marigold,
01:25one's a comedy, it's very flamboyant and then with Infinity the idea was to bring a level of
01:30nuance and shed that kind of Marigold character which I do love and he's just a comedic creation
01:36that is from my brain. I wanted to do something more subtle and subdued, something real life and
01:41this was a great opportunity to do so. Director and screenwriter Matthew Brown who's been writing
01:46for several years spoke to us about his experience filming The Man Who Knew Infinity. It was a battle,
01:52I mean it was, I've never been through like anything in my life that was hard or work
01:57because we didn't have enough money, we didn't have enough time and you're constantly, you just,
02:02it's like a constant fight to get it, you know. And it's funny because you have these moments in
02:07your life and you're like you're, you're realizing something's gonna slip away or it's gonna be
02:11compromised and you have to fight for it and you always wonder how you're gonna do in those
02:15moments, if you're gonna do it or not do it and it was, it was worth it because if I hadn't done it,
02:19it wouldn't have been half the film I think it was. So it was an education in yourself, you know.
02:26That's it for day four. Remember for more news and updates log on to gulfnews.com. I'm
