00:22State of Calamity declared the city of Puerto Princesa in Palawan yesterday.
00:28This is after the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council approved the city of State of Calamity.
00:38Because of this, the City Administration will use the 86 million quick response fund of the city to provide assistance to the affected residents.
00:51According to the latest report of the CDRRMO,
00:543,086 families were affected in the 10 barangays that were flooded in the entire city.
01:01Meanwhile, in the town of Aborlan and Nara, which was also affected by the flood,
01:06472 family food packs were distributed by DSWD Mimaropa to the affected families.
01:15According to Pagasa, the rainfall this weekend in the city is not far from a typhoon.
01:20This is also a record-breaking rainfall after almost 50 years since Pagasa Station was built in the city in 1948.
01:29According to Pagasa, Puerto Princesa City Weather Chief Sunny Pajarilla,
01:35the total rainfall reached 341.7 mm from Feb. 7 to Feb. 10 in the city of Puerto Princesa.
01:45The maximum rainfall here was on Feb. 9 with a 150 mm rainfall accumulation within 3 hours.
01:54According to Pajarilla, for the public's knowledge,
01:57the normal rainfall in Puerto Princesa City for the month of February is only 30.7 mm.
02:04The estimated extreme rainfall for the same month is 140.8 mm, which was estimated on Feb. 16, 2012.
02:13The highest recorded rainfall was 269.3 mm on Dec. 29, 1975,
02:21but it was a rainfall within 24 hours.
02:25And this record was already covered by the record of rainfall this February, 2025.
