00:00An economist refuses to allow the government to introduce a minimum wage arrangement according to the country in the future.

00:09Ye Kim Leng from Sunway University warned that a different minimum wage has the potential to widen the gap in the economy between countries.

00:18Such a situation will cause development in this country to be affected by weaker economic growth,

00:24slower industrialization, lower purchasing power, and a drop in life expectancy.

00:30Meanwhile, Barjoyai Bardai from the University of Science and Technology Malaysia said that a standard minimum wage is ideal for Malaysia.

00:39However, he said that this exception can be made for countries such as Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Sabah due to differences in life expectancy and economic development.

00:49Previously, the Malaysian Red Cross has suggested that the government build a country-based model for the minimum wage in the future

00:59with the excuse that the approach will reflect the local economic reality more effectively.
